Worst resort you have ever been too?

Midwest resorts are an exception, or else Southern Wisconsin resorts are boof as hell. My least favorite resort Ive skied was Keystone, and I skied it again last week. Mountain is hard to get around and would much rather save 15 min of my drive to ski Arapahoe or the pass

I agree, I dont like Keystone either. Last year we went up when they had no snow and only like 4 runs open but still charged $120 for a lift ticket. They have a good park but for the most part its the place where all the rich kids from CU go to ski "Black Diamonds". 36 hours of Keystone was pretty fun but it was inevitable they shut that down after a few years, that was the best worst idea any resort ever came up with.

Wintergreen in Virginia. Not a single run an average skier couldn't straight-line in < 60 seconds. Flattest terrain park evar with janky features.https://www.wintergreenresort.com/Trail-Map/

Park looks pretty sick. Probably pretty decent for Virginia regardless. Idk. Never really been itching to ski virginia. Although hit Liberty once.

That pic is probably from the best winter they ever had. I bet they'll still be using that same photo in 20 years. Also IDK if they still do but they used to have a ban on inverted tricks in the park. I once watched someone get their ticket pulled for doing a backflip...

Apple Mountain in Freeland, MI. We are talking like 200 vertical feet of man made hill and maybe 4 runs. Golf course is nice with it, though.

holiday valley NY

decent hill, the worst staff and guests of anywhere I've ever been.

nothing but ugly rude people there. fuck new york.

Oh gawd. I remember the inversion bans. I landed my first backflip in the woods off a rock ledge because I didn't wanna get my pass pulled. Shit's so dumb.

They prolly make you wear a leash on a snowboard too.

Peak and peak is way better. Don't know why anybody coming from the West wouldn't go to peak and people coming from the East wouldn't go to whiteface or Vermont

Anyone been to Tremblant. I don't know if it was because it was -30 the whole week or I was in French Canada but that shit was wack af. We got kicked off the bus one morning because it cost 6 and we only had a 5 and 10, the guy really kicked us off. We walked the 3 miles to the hill and the bus drove by us twice. I went the week of Christmas which you would figure is there most busy time of year yet they were still making snow, didn't have a real park, and had a few runs not opened.

lol I have heard universally bad things about tremblant, everyone should go to val d'irene they have 100% natural snow and amazing tree skiing, cheap af ski in ski out lodging, no crowds ever. Still very cold though and nobody speaks english

Mad River "Mountain" in Ohio, hands down. I'll still go to get time on snow, but it's basically an overpriced glorified sled riding hill with chair lifts. Jerries.... Drunk Jerries everywhere.

Holiday Valley is decent for proximity to me, but I agree their staff are a buncha dicks. Last year after a good snowfall, I was hoping to ski the wall since it woulda been prime conditions and it's usually a sheet of ice and you can't do much other than straight line it if it's icy. It was closed. When I asked an employee why, the response was "concern for avalanches" I kid you not. Apparently this happened once, but by the looks of the photos the snow detached all the way down to the grass, so technically that could happen anytime.

Holiday Valley also bans "inversions" per their website. I'll pay $100 to the first person to do a backflip in front of a yellow jacket and get the whole confrontation on camera.

People don't go to tremblant for the conditions, they go because it actually takes more than 30 seconds to get down the hill. Waiting for Iced to jump in here to tell us his experience in a month

hate to be that guy but tbh most encounters ive had with french canadians they have come off as major douchebags.

Probably Hyland hills. Any crappy hills in the midwest although some midwest hills can be very good. Trollhaugen is a great example.

Alright, Holiday is by far the best resort in the area with no comparison (except maybe Holimont, I've never skied it). The no inversion rule is a joke for sure, but as long as you're not an idiot you wont get in trouble. The whole hill is actually mad fun if you know where to ski, especially after a good snow. Ellicotvile is a hell of a town too, some of the nicest people I've met in the area. Everyone's super down to earth and just tryna ski, better town than alot of places I've seen in Colorado. HV is the shit, and always has the best skiing in WNY. Night skiing till 10 on basically the whole hill, plenty of steeps (I know it's still east coast don't roast me), tree trails. Unlimited woods spots/ huts to sesh in. I could be biased cause I've skiied there since I was 3, but still HV is a vibe idc what anyone says. Less than an hour from Downtown Buffalo, 30-40 min from anyone south, and traffic is never bad at all.

What are you moaning about, you guys didn't get Josh Boyd till this year. Bmbw is worse

I cant think of any hill i objectively hate, maybe except for welch village nowadays. But i have to say i have had one actually good day at bridger in the 20 ish times i have been there, weather is never good usually windy as shit. One time it was like 95% humidity and -5 F, so that was that. But even on pow days, its more like powder run, even the ridge gets ran tf out at the speed of sound.

I'd say the worst place I've been in or near Wisconsin is Pine Mountain in Iron Mountain, MI (just over the boarder of WI).

Are you talking about places like the one in Wisco Dells and stuff? I've never been there. I live in Green Bay so I just go to Granite and I will hit up U.P. "resorts" if I'm up there visiting family but they kind of suck other than Bohemia. I miss Norway's old park with the towrope though, I had a lot of fun there.

I once had an instructor of a lesson of 10 year olds try to take my pass because I posted my sister up on the knuckle of a DFD for like 1 minute to film me. I laughed my way back to the lift line. Holiday Valley is awful.

nah trust me, as somebody who's spent many years at both places, mad river is just as disappointing.Neither one is a place that anybody aspires to ski at.

My friends speak highly of the UP resorts with a lot of snow! I grew up 10 mins from the Border so I used to ski Alpine Valley, Wilmot, and Grand Geneva (still ski wilmot when I go home cuz epic pa$$)

I went there over thanksgiving and a yellow jacket yelled at my friend, who has never skied with safety bars on the lift and threatened to take his pass, no questions asked.

Their safety patrol is up there with the worst. What did he do do get yelled at?

He didn't put the bar down on the lift. They are also super selective on what they call you out on, if there busy talking to their friends than you do whatever you want but if they feel bored they shout at you for nothing.

I'm not sure if it was just the day I was there or if it was just too overhyped for me, but Park City/Canyons felt very underwhelming. The park was cool, but other than that, meh. It was super expensive, super crowded, and for some reason I remember having to push myself out of bowls/on cat tracks a lot. I've only gone to big/little cottonwood whenever I go back to Utah.

I also have a soft spot for small east coast/midwest hills and try not to bash them. Except for the 7 springs Jerrys/Asian invasion and Bob Nutting is an asshole.

Yeah luckily you got snowbird which makes up for any lack of natural terrain ever. God I love snowbird.

There’s this place called Nemacolin Woodlands. It’s like 20 mins south of 7 Springs. 5 puny trails. Takes 45 seconds to get down and you sit on the lift for 11 minutes. It’s all flat except for the last 100-200 yards of slope. No park either. Just a box and maybe a corrugated tube just laying in the snow. Still fun tho, skied there at least twice a weekend ever since I was 8 and had some good times there just jacking around so I can’t really give it too much shit cause some of the best times of my life were there with my friends.

Blue Knob Pennsylvania is by far the worst place I have skied. I get a season pass there though every year because thats where all my byddies go. They actually tried to open up this saturday and sunday with just the fucking BUNNY SLOPE. Like who is going to go buy a pass to ski the bunny slope. They also only started making snow like 2 weeks ago and they literally have no snow. Last year the most I saw was 20 slopes open out of the "36" slopes they have. They also always have snow gun problems and it feels like they never make snow. Don't bring new skis here cause they are gonna get core shots lmao. Don't get me started on the park.

Still can be fun every once in a while with buddies and making sidehits or whatever.

Wolf Ridge North Carolina, rained the whole time we were there and the snow was literally a sheet of ice

What do you have against Welch? Honestly curious.

Management is non local friendly, structures are decaying, wasted money on excessive snowmaking, there park used to be half decent even if it was ridiculous now it’s on a small hill and smaller than elm creeks Park, and not as steep. They don’t use proper instruction techniques for the rest of the area (no PSIA style instructing) they don’t pay there workers at or near minimum wage. It’s a Midwest, the most Midwest hill I can think of that tries to be some kind of poor mans deer valley, it’s a bad place.

Wintergreen in Virginia is my home mountain. Inversion ban was lifted and they are now “not recommended”. Also that photograph of the park was from a long time ago. 90% of the time the park is janky. Surprisingly not the worst mountain I’ve been to. Massenuten in Virginia is 5x worse. They have a J bar on their park but, ever time I have been there it was a sheet of ice and the park was in horrible condition.

I’ve learned to love Wintergreen. Nothing compared to my past mountain Shawnee Peak in Maine.

I definitely didn't hate Wintergreen. Freaked me out that the mountain is backward (parking/lodge at the top, instead of the bottom). A ton of weekend warriors, but that's to be expected. I was also surprised that the race course trail, that peak by itself (if I remember correctly), is a lot steeper and longer than I was EVER expecting in VA.

Haven't been to a resort I would consider the worst, but I'm from WNY and now living in PA. I'm just going to say Liberty snowflex though, based on principle.

Haven’t you guys seen line travelling circus a rocky start... skiing on rocks and loving it...

You at a resort is already a step ahead
