World cup skiers doing the same jumps in at every course

What do people think of skiers who reuse the same 3 trick combination at slopestyle events?

For example, Andri Spagettli in 2019/20 did rdub12, SW dub misty 12, dub 16, in that specific order with very similar grabs across a handful of world cups. What do we think (if anything) should be done about this? Should top level skiers be punished for being repetitive?

Personally i don't fuck with stale moves.

if they repeat the same trick in the same run they should be penalized but I dont think theres anything wrong with wanting to do your best tricks or ones you have down the cleanest in a competition.

That's how you win a slopestyle event, its always been that way, you just didn't notice.

Welll look at henrick haralut in xgames big air this year. He tried like 3 new tricks and won

We're talking about slopestyle?

That's just the nature of slopestyle, and freeskiing competitions in general: You stick to what scores well and hone it to perfection with slight adjustments. Remember when Henrik won X-Games big air gold 3 times in a row with the same trick?

Very true - should have clarified *men's slopestyle hasn't been interesting (to me) in quite some time. Agree, women are killing it.

Holy shit lol. I love the downvotes. Some blind children out there. Womens slope has been as or more exciting than mens for a few years. Lots of progression and aome sick style. Seen so many clean ass stylish spins from the ladies. And a bunch of rhem are sending it on the rails room

Still changing so there's more they need to step up but if you wanna be competitive you have to throw the fuck down right now and it's awesome to see.

Y'all can downvote this too but maybe check out the women in the next big slope comp. They're legit

I think it was because you mentioned snowboarding

Oh true. That makes way more sense. I was like wtf?!?!?

But imo, as shitty as it is the women ins snowboarding have been ahead of skiing. Like women were throwing clean dubs and cork 9s with tons of style while sketchy pencil 9s with an alright grab were winning the ski side.

It's mire even now but it was noticeable. Womens skiing improved faster on rails than their jumps it seemed like. Idk regardless theyre all crushing now and shits dope.

it would be fun to see a comp where the competitors don't know how the judges will score the tricks. i think that way you'd het a really diverse competition but i have no idea how that would be done.

I love Tom but it definitely got a bit boring when he won every contest in 2012 with a left dub 12, and both ways switch dub 10.

The solution would be using different features for each comp (weird jumps and stuff that is challenging just to hit) so that they dont feel as comportable when sending the same tricks they do in the "conventional" jumps

Dumbest shit I've ever heard...

Go out and judge a high level event and see how this goes. Shit hits the fan on NS when the athletes know how a contest is judged, now imagine the shitstorm when no one knows...

I honestly just watch the highlights on ns for comps. Don’t get me wrong its sick seeing a bunch of ppl throw dub 16’s every run but at this point ive seen so many of them it just doesnt have the same wow factor anymore. I think mostly because super hard tricks like that usually lack style so it just feels bland even tho they are crazy tricks.

Like I said before id rather watch Versace Plug bs flip a 6 stair than watch Tony Hawk do a 900. Obviously theres some comp dudes in every sport with nuts style but its a rare occurrence.

I see it now. A comp where someone picks a panel of 10 random newschoolers to be the judges with no standardization, no communication, and no follow up.
