World cup 2018

the problem FIFA has with australia is the time. Europe gets the most teams in the world cup, and so most viewers live there.

but again, its not so much that fifa gives a shit if people have to wake up early to watch, its more that if fewer people watch, few will see the ads, which brings that revenue stream down a bit etc etc etc. It sucks, but you gotta remember that it's fueled by advertising. Hell, it's even officially referred to as "the Adidas FIFA world cup finals" or they tack on "presented by Adidas" at the end of it.

plus australia is another one of those countries that is just overall, a pain in the ass for everyone to get to. I'd say they're bound to get it eventually, but since they did away with the rotation system, probably not for awhile. I think every other world cup now is likely to end up in europe.

Actually moron, the most expensive stadium in the world is the home of my New York Jets. New Meadowlands stadium was $1.6 billion compared to Wembley which was $1.2 billion

apparently we have failed....

the USA officially withdrew from the bidding for 2018, and is focusing on 2022. So we have essentially handed over 2018 to the english

Im pretty sure they didnt fail. Look at how much more time people will have to organize things. Look who were are up against, essentially Australia... Qatar is well, Qatar. Japan and South Korea had that shit 8 years ago. Australia is cool, but wont be able to offer what the US has, with population base, markets, stadiums, infrastructure, etc.

We will prob get the bid for 2022.

oh absolutely, it was a smart move in every sense of the word.

more time to build up, improve upon the sport domestically, and get shit together.

Just about guarantees 2018 to england, but im not so sure the USA will get 2022. Qatar is actually launching a surprisingly attractive bid. As for australia, it would be a pain in the ass for everyone, but that entire region of the earth has never had it. They might get it just for the sake of finally rounding off all civilized continents.

The draw is in two days. No matter who hosts the 2022 World Cup, 2014 and 2018 will blow it out of the water. I think it's too bad that they'll never give it to Europe or South America twice in a row.
