Looking to start working out to build upper body muscle and bulk up. What workout plans do you recommend? What weights and equipment will I need etc.... Also any website you recommend with good info.

if you're a skinny fuck, then bulk. Join a gym..? bodybuilding.com and livestrong.com

not that hard bud

Invest in yourself. Eat way more lean protein and bulk up. Lift slightly more than you can handle and push it until you cry. Get titties and dominate the scene.

Hells yeah.

I did a mandatory 'assessment' at my gym last week, AkA a sales pitch. And the dude told me I was basically hopeless if I didn't pay them $600 for 8 personal training sessions.

That pissed me off

i had a good laugh yesterday at the gym...this dude comes walking in all swoll-up as a mother fucker. dude is wearing shorts and has the skinniest chicken legs. obviously never did legs...especially calves, but was struttin' his shit around like he was top dog. made me seriously lol.

just get in 200 push-ups every two days, and throw in 100 sit-ups on & off the days in between.

well you're going to want to start by ripping the sleeves off of your highschool football tee shirts then make sure you wear those to the gym. don't forget a hat to wear backwards as well.

second of all buy one of those sippy cups with the metal spring ball inside and drink excessive amounts of creatine and protein supplement

lastly you're not going to want to overdo it, so just do a couple of sets of curls in front of the mirror, probably twice a week but make sure you walk around for about 20 mins after that so every knows how hard you've been working.

good like brah I hope to see you jacked like me one day

theres actually some areas on that site that are helpful. at least in the weight loss section that i was looking in.

I don't like the guys that walk around and act jacked anymore than anyone else, but i just ignore them. But as for the proteins, those actually make the difference. Along with eating way more and drinking water.

not really. small doses of certain things yes, but if you eat enough good food you shouldn't need to have much extra at all. especially not creatine. I'm sure 95% of people drinking that don't know what it does and just listened to the ads on the side of porn websites.

I wouldn't know of creatine working because I don't use it and neither do my friends. But proteins build muscle, and yes if you have a good diet you shouldn't need extra. But for someone likes that works 11 hour days before going to the gym, without lunch, that extra protein along with eating carbs gives a boost.

yeah understandable I'm in grade 12 though and there are so many dumb kids at my school who just drink protein in class all day and then work out for half an hour at the end of the day. gonna be fat motherfuckers in 5 years I tell ya whut.

This describes like 75% of the people at my gym. They always look like the kind of guys who act tough at the bar and want to fight haha.

don't just do upper body. it's more respectable and beneficial to do full body workouts and tons of cardio

i'm at a stage in my life where i'm working out more than most people could ever even dream of as part of college rowing and the workouts we do build incredible amounts of general strength and fitness that benefit your body so much more than just doing curls and shoulder work. it's much more impressive to look toned and fit as fuck as opposed to a gym rat with massive arms solely trying to look good in tight shirts in nightclubs

if you know what you are doing and are willing to work hard, look up the PHAT workout, and learn how to bulk. if inexperienced, some good starting programs include stronglifts 5x5, starting strength, simple power based routine etc. either way, squats, deadlifts, pullups/bent over rows, standing press and bench press should be the foundation of you workout plan. one thing people dont usually realize when they try to eat more to gain weight is you cant just eat a bigger dinner, you need to eat more all day long and if your skinny as fuck, a little fat wont hurt. protein powder and a gym membership should be the only thing you need to buy for now

Agreed.

Hate to say but I was one of those people for a while, pretty beefed up not really huge but cut up and look like i workout. I have pretty beefed up arms also. Slacked off on legs for a lonngggg time and needless to say they are a bit skinny been working them out so hard past 4 montsh to catch them up. A good workout plan should hit legs atleast once a week.

Mine is usually

chest tris

legs abs

back bis

cardio/shoulders/abs

legs

day off

First of all, creatine is the most studied supp out of any, for a good reason; It works. And protein cannot be stored as fat, thats a myth. Most people dont take in nearly enough protein as it is so thats not even a bad idea. Obviously your still in HS tho.

I see your point, but it's not really my thing. At least not yet.

I have skinny-ass legs cause I'm a skinny dude, at this point I'm trying to fill out some t shirts so legs aren't a priority.

I play soccer and ski every week and my legs do just fine

Then where do all the excess protein end up? Thats right your kidneys, which will have a hard life getting rid of all of that kreatine.

explain to me how it works.

and the protein isn't stored as fat it's pissed out which is rough on your kidneys. I said they will be fat because they won't be fit from what they're doing and don't know fuck all about nutrition.

protein powder can be helpful as a small compliment to an excellent diet and a good workout plan, but that's the most it will ever be

i've never been a fan of it and it's funny to see that most guys on my team don't use it yet lots of other athletes here use it but don't work out nearly as hard or do mostly strength stuff

Im a firts year and living in res, eating caf food is a hard way to put on weight. I drink a lean muscle gainer. It gives me the overload of calories and the protein that i need. If you cook your own food (or your mother does for you) you probably dont even need that, just eat a fucked amount and try to eat more then 3 meals a day. stay away from sugar and soda. drink lots of water.

Working out/ getting into shape is not all about the gym. Your diet has more of an impact than you think. For learning about how to work out, i would suggest you read a lot of online forums and articles. Then when you go to the gym, go with a friend who knows what they are doing. tell them that you want to learn the proper way to do things and shit. this is pretty good especially if you dont have any experience in the gym. Usually people are happy to show you the ropes. A week later you should be good to go on your own. Having a buddy is nice too

Pro tip: mix up your workouts, dont do the same thing every time. free weights are great for this.

Just go to the gym and start lifting. Bench press, overhead press, pull ups, chin ups, and rows are all good places to start.

oh and you want to get bigger? Lift lower reps with more weight. Dont hurt yourself and its probably really good to have a spotter to help you bang out those last reps.

Everyone has their own advice, tips, tricks, techniques. Talk to (big) people about what they do in the gym and try to incorporate it into your routine. At the gym is not a good time to chat, nobody wants to talk for more then 30 seconds. also set up your workouts so you spend the least amount of time resting. a 15-20 min INTENSE AS FUCK workout is just as good (if not better) then a 1 hour workout with a lot of breaks.

Also warmup and cool down. make sure you stretch as you gain mass. your muscles will tighten up and the potential to hurt yourself is greater.

but chicks dig skinny guys anyway.

Remember the best way to make friends at the gym is to use the squat rack for bicep curls.

Really though. Go lift heavy stuff. Squat as deep as your flexibility will allow, but work towards full depth.

Personally I don't use any machines in my gym, but to each their own. I'm a competitive (trying to be) Olympic weightlifter so everything I do is on a lifting platform with a barbell. If the option is available, get someone to teach you how to clean and how to snatch. They are fun and encourage explosiveness in your lifting.

Just going to throw this in here, do YOU know what creatine does? Not just the whole increasing muscle mass part, there is another key role served by creatine, and yes it actually does help when taken in correct amounts. Creatine not only increases your muscle mass(Which is mainly water retention type shit and not actually more muscle) but it increases your ability to create muscle tension yada yada. It restores ATP quicker in the muscle cell which allows the myosin heads to work faster thus more energy type shit. I can write out a whole explanation from my physiology notes/books buuut I really dont feel like doing that right now. You need to use it properly, and know what the fuck you're using it for, but it does help.

yes but there are limited enzymes to break it down and the excess filters through your kidneys.

so youre telling me that creatine will make my dick bigger and no longer make me have to pay to have sex with women?
