Working out

So i just started working out regularly at a gym (in the past i just used a bench at my house or did push ups whenever i felt like it). I've been doing mostly upper body stuff, with some abs and occasional legs. is it bad to work out when you're sore? i want to work out everyday, but i've been reading that it might do more harm then good. is this true? thanks

if you want to get bulkier then yes you need a day off to recooperate your muscles. try working out only 3-4 times a week, and make it a day in between for you to just rest up for your next workout. feeling sore is good, but working out already sore muscles is bad.

i have a trainer and work out 4 days during the week, and sometimes on saturday.. dont just work your upper body and ocassionally legs, youll gain muscel fast when you do both do every other day upperbody then the next day abbs and lower body

u can work out everyday and it wont due you any harm.

when you are really sore you need to lift light weight just to keep the blood flowing because it will push the lactic acid out allowing you to build up on muscle.

just remeber not to lift real hard when your sore.

not true. different routines work better for certain people..just because something works for you doesnt mean it will work for him.

you deffinately dont need to work out 7 days a week..thats way overkill and you will be overtraining. 5 days max.

personally i do a push/pull/legs split which i find work pretty well and ill switch up with a high intensity workout. i also do cardio/abs. theres so many different routines out there.. research, see which one you like, and do it. your goals are most important in chosing your routine, so find one that matches your needs.

if your really serious make sure your diets in check too.

do not neglect your legs. when you work out your legs it increases the amount of testosterone released, causing other parts of your body to grow quicker than if you didnt work out your legs. plus, if your a skier why would you want to neglect them?

ahahhahaha your so full of shit, unless your so incredibly tiny and hes very large then ok ill believe it but from what your describing it sounds unhuman

try lifting 3 or 4 days a week, and do cardio the other days. and your body does need an occasional rest day every week or so.

its usually said to not lift heavy for gains more than 2 days in a row, so a pretty typical schedule is mon tues lift, rest wed, lift thurs fri. Or just go mon, wed, fri. Definitely make sure you work your entire body or you'll end up like a ton of the guys do in gyms with huge arms and chests and toothpick legs with a huge belly.

It's up to you, but I run every day and it's good to be doing cardio so fit it in accordingly. A lot of kids also don't realize how important the food you eat is if you're trying to build muscle. The key is you're going to have to eat a ton. Not junk food though, a good balance of protein, carbs, fats, etc. It's complete opposite of a weight loss diet since you need a calorie overload whereas weight loss you need less calories than you use. It's still possible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time though, it's just super complicated and I don't understand it.

i already have pretty strong legs in general but i only work upper body in preparation for the beach season and then mid summer start workin legs into it for ski season

im back to the good ole basics now, real heavy for no more than 6 reps, monday is squats and calf raises, wednesday i do heavy bench press, clean and press and bench dips, friday is heavy deadlifts, heavy dumbbell rows and barbell curls. abs are on mondays and friday.
