Hey Guys,
Just wondering how hard/easy it is to get work in Banff and surrounding areas. Do any of you also have any suggestion of were I can get work preferably at a bar doing late hours so as I can go skiing during the day.
Cheers, and + Karma for any kind of help.

When are you planning to arrive? It's really difficult to say as it depends a lot on time of year etc not to mention luck. It took me a month of looking but I know people who found work quicker and others who ran out of cash before they found anything. I'd highly recommend you have enough contingency cash to keep you going for a while just in case especially as people tend to piss a load up the wall on getting shitfaced/meeting peope when they first get in town.

Going to the job fairs of the ski resorts is a good way to increase your chances although ski resort work generally means less ski time and shittier wages.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for bar work - it tends to be one of the most sought after jobs and in my experience unless you have connections or you are a hot girl your chances are not very high at all. There are plenty of other jobs that will give you plenty of ski time though, eg hotels/restaurants usually have plenty of evening/night shifts. I work a lot of nights and skiied 130+ days last year and i'm not far off that this year. The big hotels would be a good place to start - the Banff Springs hires a shitload of people every year.

you could always wash dishes at places like earls. sure, you wont get paid as much as the bartenders but you will get to ski just as much.

my room mate last year worked at earls and he worked 4-11 or something along those lines. so it worked out pretty good.

i worked at the waterslides of the douglas fir up tunnel mountain. hours were from 2-10 usually. your staff accom is up at the top of tunnelmountain so going downtown at night to party makes for a shitty walk/expensive cab back. if you ask you might be able to be put in the staff accom at muskrat st/dr. but that house is a total crack shack! you might luck out and get some cute french housekeepers although most of the house is dominated by imported filipino workers.

also, subway needs people to work late till 4am. i did the 11-4am shift, kind of interesting and funny if you kept a good attitude/plus cute drunk girls from hoodoos.

they hire anyone, so if you just arrived and need some money go there. pays like 15 an hour plus tips. i think i was averaging about 17 an hour to make sandwiches easy as hell.

now is the time to look for work because banff is in the transition phase between summer and winter crowds.

fairmont is for sure hiring golf green crews, but it sucks because you're so far from town but you get free rounds.

can't comment on the winter, because i started to get into a bad scene and decided to leave. went to the ski resort job fair in november and got a job as a dishwasher at mike wiegele heli skiing instead. free heli skiing days and free gourmet food as a dishwasher, can't complain!!

can get you a kitchen job for sure. $10.50 and hour, staff accom, free meal eery night, and cheap ass beer.
this offer is open to anyone who is in banff right now looking for work.

for cereal though we need some people at my work someone message me if you wanna have a dope summer with a dope crew, at a sick place to work.
