Woodward Copper Adult Camp Week

Woodward Copper offers an adult camp in late May / early June. I've put the info they share below.

I grew up in Europe and always wanted to do camps like Mt Hood or Whistler, but never really had the opportunity. Now that I'm 27, living in Denver, I thought this one might be a good experience. Doing 5 days of intensive riding, being coached for the first time, seeing what else I can get out of it.

I realize that since lodging is not included, it's not a real camp experience like windells or momentum, but I'm fine with it being focused on skiing. (Also this one is more than half the price of the latter ($200 discount if booked in February), and no need to fly)

Has anyone participated in these camps? (I don't think there was an adult camp until this year)

Anyone have any experiences to share about attending this kind of camp as you approach 30?

Are any NSers interested in participating?

That's super expensive for not having any lodging. I get skiing ticket and coaching but its not a huge park. Really not a lot close to copper. Would think for an adult camp having some beers with the people after going to aleep ,waking up there and shredding would be the move.

Commuting every day from denver seems terrible. Do they have a deal with anything on site or local ish hotels?

Park looks fun, riding with people trying to learn and aome coaching is pretty sweet.

I remember there being adults when I was a kid at Mount Hood Summer Ski Camp and they even had lodging nearby to us. One guy actually insisted on staying with us 16 year olds. Near the end of the week, he had a psychotic episode and the paramedics and police were called and he was taken down to Portland after a very weird standoff..

I also live and Denver and think I’m gonna do it. Its a pretty penny but I hope the perks and the training makes it worth it, yeah Im just gonna do the drive everyday, fuck paying even more for lodging. Lets link when it comes around!

I'm registered - super stoked to have access to an on snow air bag!

I own some land in Leadville if anyone wants to car camp 20 mins from Copper. I have been using the Copper Athletic Club to shower etc. Please only use this as an option if the price of lodging / commuting everyday would price you out of the camp. Turns out my neighbor is one of the coaches haha.

Its kind of off grid (right of highway though) but I have a generator, starlink internet, bonfire pit so its a good time

It’s expensive af but slushy parks with pros is probably where you will progress the most and learn the most. If getting better is a goal then it’s worth it, but if you’re just trying to ski in the summer for fun then it’s absolutely not worth it lol, especially with no housing

I live in Leadville also and thinking about signing up. My gf gets half off employee discount so seems it would be more worth it.

It's $1295 if booked before February 28. It's expensive but I don't think it's excessive compared to other camps that have much better parks, but they charge $3000 and the accommodations are far from luxurious.

Since it's off-season, it seems the accommodations are not overpriced ($400 the week for a two room condo for example). I'll try to motivate a few people to book a place in the area. As long as I'm investing in this camp, I might as well be in good shape. (then it could be a good base to drink a few beers after the session and offer a couch to potential squatters)

It looks like we'll be a good NS team!

While we were having a horrible session in Eldora, no visibility, in a freezing wind, with hard landings, inconsistently sliding rails, Mitchy convinced me. That indeed it will not hurt us 5 days in slush, airbag, foam pit, trampoline, and coaching. Just to keep the bag growing, as we are approaching 30, and to get some style points in the process. To prove the French expression right, style is like wine, it gets better with age.

I just signed. You have your European team ready to represent!

Hell yeah! You’re totally right, we’ll get a little NS squad going. Gonna be sick

I love how many people are signing up. eff the hate on the price at the top of the thread. it's a solid opportunity and proves coaches have value.

when ya'll do this, post content here = ns famous

AND it's the start of summer. If you don't want to book offseason rates in Copper, Frisco or anywhere else in Summit CO... you can probably sleep in nearby lots or the woods on forest service land...

I guess if it’s a week long and meals are included...

About a rack of that money will go straight towards the $18 3 piece strip at jacks ?

for sure! I think for at least one or two of the nights imma sleep in my car at the Conoco lot so I don't have to make the trek back to the city just to come back the next day

I'm booked for camp and down to throw in for a spot. Lodging looks not too terrible if a few people go in together.

I'm stupid and I forgot a wedding I have to attend in Switzerland on those dates, and anyway my menisci tell me to go fuck myself when I do park more than two days in a row these days (but I'm following the knee over toes program, hoping for some results).

But contact my buddy [tag=248994]@Kundera[/tag] , there are several of them who want to share a place.

Enjoy and throw videos!

Right on. bummer you have to go to Switzerland instead ? but we’ll be throwing down for you!

Camp is just a few weeks away! We got a dope condo in center village with room for a few more homies if anyone is still looking for lodging and wants to link up.

I'm a lurker to newschoolers, but found this thread via google search. Anyway, I'm attending the ski camp too. I live in Denver, but I'm gonna be staying in my van near Copper during the week. If anyone knows of a good spot to car camp, let me know. My van is pretty stealthy. Looking forward to learning tricks and hanging with y'all
