Wood glue? Mounting skis.

I mounted my own skis the other day and couldn't find the wood glue I bought so I just tossed them on anyway. I know what the purpose of wood glue is, but is it a necessity?

Normally I would agree but when I took my bindings off the old pair, there was no glue. I also asked the shop that I mounted them at (they let me use their tools knowing I would never even think of bringing liability issues into this) and they didnt even have wood glue. The shop that mounted the first pair was different from the shop I was at when I mounted the new pair.

but if you say that there is no chance that mounting without wood glue is a good idea, I will have to hand screw the bindings out and fill them with glue and remount them by hand, right?

The purpose of wood glue to prevent water from getting into the core of your ski and rotting the wood (which later causes premature breakage and/or binding pull out). It is rather crucial if you want to keep your skis in good condition for years to come.
