Women's gear and products discussion

every season i love checking out all the new collections. i love it when products drop, i love seeing the new designs, i studied this stuff after all and have a terrible shopping habit. so i want to know about your favorite brands and products. why you love them, what pieces you're stoked about this season, and even what you think is missing from collections, this year, or every year. what do you want more of, and what would you love to get your hands on? have you tried something new and want to let us know what you think? is there pieces in some collections that you just adore the fit and you think everyone should know about it?

personal favorite this season is the chalet jacket by orage, a city jacket in their new collection. this thing has good length, it's a perfect fit, stylist, comfortable, and sort of a chic twist on a casual classic piece. definitely nicer in person.

second is another orage jacket, that may be getting a bit of hype this season, we saw tatum monod rocking it, and the color ways are pretty bad ass, breaking off from orage's typical, it's a more tom boy varsity but feminine jacket.

the draw back is both jackets top out around 350$.

the nikita boxy hoodie and crew are typical simple, stylized, clean, and tall for women. so no chunky boy sleeves.

if you love oversized and chunky knits, nikita is where it's at. higher end prices, but i can honestly vouch for quality here. some more favorites include the wolf knit sweater,

falcon knit sweater

all topping around the 100$ mark.

i've always been a huge fan design wise for moment skis. i think their graphics are consistently killer, and their tip shape makes it such a unique product. their product descriptions are at times ridiculous, but i wouldn't have it any other way. one day i will experience the joy of ownership.

my one soul criticism on women's skis is generally design and color, however i want to point out one winner, armada.

i want to formally thank armada for not making women's skis pink and purple. i've raged about this so much. their designs are clean, playful and stylish. not even overly girly.

i think boot design has made such a major change. and i've always heard "blah blah, who cares about it, it's just a boot." but in the world of consumerism, look can sell a product just as well as fit. so if you have a boot that looks sexy, and fits sexy, you have one sexy product. at the end of the day, maybe it's because i've stuck my nose in design, or because i have a shoe problem, but look is still important to me. again with boots i've found them super feminine, dainty and powdery white with a romantic pinstripe and swirls and flowers. no thanks.

i saw a pair of k2 boots recently, and i was impressed. the design was forward, in your face, though pink, it was still kind of badass, the minaret is a freeride boot for the ladies.

I am obssessed with colourwears new line for this winter..clwr.com

I adore my moment seirras, four seasons on them now and they still rip so hard. Demo'd the armada ARVw for 2015 (last winter) and they are for sure my go to all mtn ski for this season. Boots..ft soul sisters. Less than 50 days in em so their still getting dialed in but I think they'll be perfect this year.

Last year I was on 4FRNT blondie for park..solid ski just not real stoked on it, nothing specail I guess.

Started last season with Salomon Quest boot..great boot but I had a weird pressure point on my achellis so I had to switch it up.

I have usually stuck with armada through and through for skis and outerwear, and still rocking the 2015 outerwear this season, however I switched to a pair of K2's. The remedy 112 (chics version of shreditor 112) is sweet, it is all pink though but pretty subtle. I ended up getting a shreditor anyway because it was cheaper and its the same ski, plus i've pretty much always been on guys skis so not a big deal. K2 has always kept the colorway pretty girlish with the skis (and boots, apparently)

Full tilt rumors for the boots, basically the old soul sister before the design changed. I don't know what it is but the new soul sisters just did not like my feet. I like how they kept the design simple but its still nice looking. If you haven't seen it, here it is.

One major problem I have with the Armada ARW is that they do not make a small size. 161cm is long considering im 4"11. Its pretty much impossible to find a full on park ski for me. If anyone knows of skis, please let me know

Idk if this would be too short for you, but the youth ARW is called the makai and comes in a 143, same design and all.

If you're looking for a women's ski pretty sure k2's come in like 149/159/169. I ride the missdemeanors 159 as my park ski, I'm 5'1, i love them but i don't think they made them this year they only have the misconduct or something.

I generally don't care too much. I usually find women's outerwear pretty blah or too pink / weird colours, I've pretty much always worn mens. The only women's outerwear I've owned is last years Armada camo jacket. Haven't bought new pants in like 5 years until the other week and they ended up being armada. And surprisingly my other jacket which is a mens jacket is armada as well. I just generally go for what I like. I've got the OG 2009 FT Sally's, on their last leg I really need a new pair but I have baby feet and NO ONE carries my size so I'd have to special order them before I can try them on and/or tries to get me into kids boots which is NOT happening.

YO I FEEL YOUR PAIN I'm actually 4"11 too. And my feet are small. I'm petite.. WHICH SUCKS because I can't fit into a lot of things. Last year it took me a while to find a a pair of skis under 150 but longer than 143. I took up some 2012 Volkl Pearls on ebay which were 147. And k2 has skis that area 149, which are 2 cm longer but it won't matter much. I tried my sister's 149 skis and I didn't really feel much of a difference. I felt the same when I wanted the ARW's since they only came in 160s+. Message me if you need help!

I second this, all other women's skis start at least around 150cm.. I would absolutely buy ARWs if they had a smaller size

I'm a really tiny size in boots- size 22. IT seems as if the FTs sell out 22 right away. Do you know where you can get small sized boots that are not kids boots?

Check around at shops, I got a wicked good deal on some Dalbello Krypton IDs at a shop because they were the last pair and 22.5s and no one has feet that tiny. I'm madly in love with them. Sales people can be talked down too, unlike the internet!

honestly i was lucky to get the ones i have now. I went into a local shop like end of summer, super frustrated, asked what their smallest size women's boot was and they had 1 pair in a 22 left and it was the sallys, and they were 1/2 price so everything worked out perfectly since they fit perfectly and were the comfiest boots i ever wore.

Go to a local shop for sure, they're going to be more willing and happy to help you out even if it means special ordering something.

Since people are mentioning small feet I have some words of warning for buying boots if you are a 22 or smaller. Most boots manufacturers if they do offer a size 22 they are often not a "true" 22. This means their "22" is actually their 23 shell just with an extra fluffy liner thrown in to take up space, or they'll add a an extra thick footbed, I've seen both methods used.

I made the mistake several years ago of buying a 22 boot that was not a true 22 and I had to return it as it invariably packed out and became too roomy for my foot because the shell was actually a 23.

The only way to know if a boot is a true 22 is to look at your BSL (boot sole length). If your BSL in your 22 boot is the same as the 23 version then you know it's the same shell. Doing this comparison is the only way you can tell, thankfully most manufacturers list their BSL for all their sizes online so with a little investigating you can find out for yourself.

The two brand/models that I know for certain come in a true 22 are the nordica dobermann and the atomic redster. Nearly every other "22" is just a 23 with probably a thicker footbed thrown in. If you are okay with that, then you may as well just buy a 23 boot to begin with (which offers much more options) and add your own shim. Otherwise if you care about precise sizing be aware of the misinformation on smaller sizing.

This. Dalbello has made a few and the FT soul sister at least used to be. I'm a 23 and habe squeezed into non-true 22 boots but a real 22 I can't even ski in.

Holy crap, you're right. Colourwears stuff is such a simplistic, vintage, and clean look.

dude - my good friend has one and she says it's actually pretty sweet haha. Apparently it's also dishwasher safe...so there's that *cringes*.

On epic pow days, gnarly ski traffic I can see one of these coming in handy. Popping a squat in the snow is just way too damn cold sometimes.
