Women crash more than men?

Well I was blessed with a little tidbit earlier today. There is a myth that women are statistically better drivers because they have lower insurance rates.

The real deal is.... women actually crash MORE than men. We pay higher insurance rates as men because when we crash, we crash on average, going faster, therefore causing more damage. I thought this was pretty funny.

Which leads to the joke -

A woman, starting with a green light, gets broadsided by a man running a red light. It was raining, and 7 in the evening. Who was at fault?

The woman, why wasn't she in the kitchen making dinner?

women crash because they did something on accident because they were pre-occupied with something else or they are just clutsy or whatever. men crash because they did something really fucking stupid and they were trying to show off.

women suck at driving. they pull the nose of the car out at intersections, they multitask unsuccessfully

a man on a motorcycle crashed into a woman pedestrian. whos fault was it?

the mans, he shouldnt be driving his motorcycle in the kitchen

in general, men are much better drivers than women. that's not being sexist, just stating a fact.

most women lack a certain common sense about how things work, especially machine related things (i.e. cars..). how they make up for it is with the 'book smarts' thing. while women may retain knowledge better, they just don't understand how things work the way a guy can.

...this relates to cars in this way..

almost any guy driving on a twisty road will race around and have some fun. he'd go way over the speed limit and take turns hard, etc. a girl would probably do the same thing.

here's the difference..

the man will accelerate on straights, brake at the right spot for a turn, go wide, and turn in to hit the apex of the curve, get back on the gas once it's straight and safe... and not have any clue that he's following the most basic racing principles. the man will take into account the vehicle's properties like size, weight, performance capabilities, tires, suspension, etc... and again, even if he has no experience or knowledge about racing, he will not even think twice about the fact that he's doing what every race car driver does naturally. in *most* cases, the guy will not out drive his ability because he has a most basic instinct to respect the machine and knows to let it perform to it's capabilities, whether it's a minivan or a fully built race car.

the female though, will be talking on her phone and/or yelling at/joking with/talking to someone in the passenger/back seat, while putting on her makeup and eating breakfast. she will fly on the straights, brake too hard and too late for the turn, turn in too sharp, spin the back end, and go straight into a ditch/tree/wall/etc (whatever happens to be *inconveniently* in her way at that particular time). she will climb out of her gigantic SUV, realize that it's not a ferrari, open her cell phone, and call daddy/husband to come pick her up so she can get to her tanning appointment NOW. it won't even occur to her that she just tried to take a turn at 45mph in her monster truck sized SUV that a hardcore sports car would slow down to 35mph for... she'll think it's the cars fault and go out and buy the latest model with "traction control" so it doesn't happen again.

i guess my point is.. women should not drive unless taught by a man. not to be sexist, but it's just that it would be much safer for all of us.

sorry for the long post, but it had to be put into proper terms. haha.

It's actually not true, what that guy with the story said. There are different people in the world, both male and female. I for one know like 20 guys who a) HATE cars b)will never want to drive one and almost all of the girls I know have licenses and drive pretty damn well/crazy. By crazy I mean good, but stupid, like I drive when I drive with a friend, a race is always on..

Men weren't born in cars, the human species wasn't, but if we believe in evolution theory, then driving skills/any skills aren't there at BIRTH, people learn them or don't by their own fucking will.

^Not true, some of the instincts you have you are simply born with or not. You can't just want to be a great racecar driver you have to have talent. Which leads me to the point I was gonna make origionally: How many female race car drivers are there. Im not saying there are none. But its prob' like 1:100 a male sport.

Basically the reason is because guys take driving as fun, and we just go around above the speed limit pushing our cars. Women, just plain suck at driving and go slow. So technically we get more tickets but less crashes. They get more crashes and less tickers.

guys drive faster but are for the most part good at it. i have never seen a girl who drives fast not look like she is headed for death

is that just asian women, or asians in general. cuz i'd say the japanese and their cars are some of the best in the world.

Red appears faster to the human eye because it draws attention, and is more often pulled over because of it. Pretty sure that's why fire trucks and stop signs/lights are red too. They draw the most attention.

I'd agree with the story, for the most part. Most women don't think mechanically, nor do the majority have much interest in the mechanical side of things. For example, most girls I know don't want to drive standard. The extra control over the car that a standard gives the driver is lost on most of these girls, because they don't think about, or care about it.

I'm not trying to generalize, so ladies, don't come back and fight me about that. I'm just saying the social norm is for girls not to really learn much mechanically, and therefore they don't really care about the handling/performance of their cars.

Now that I think of it, I don't know any girls that are really good drivers. I few of my friends that are guys are really good, but for the most part the only driving I've seen girls at my school doing is into other people's cars. I know there's a few really good race car drivers that are women out there, but for the most part girls seem more interested in how they look in the mirror and who's on the phone.

i saw a lady in a jag hit a concrete base of a light pole in a parking lot. she went strait into it like she didnt even see it. she was on her cell phone.

i saw an episode of overhaulin, and it they were doing the 05 mustang, and a woman owned it. normally, a mustang GT would be a stick shift, but it was AUTO. i almost cried.

i personally love driving fast on windy roads, it's a rush.

Yeah, stick cars for the most part are how I determine (generalizing, and if I just met somebody) how well they drive.

"What kind of car do you have?"

"GTI"

"Standard?"

"No, I don't know how to drive standard"

"Ohhhh."

So the first couple weeks of school, 5 peeps got into an accident. 4 girls and one guy. The 4 girls ran into the back of each other, the dude was just stopping at a stop sign. He got ran into from behind. Thats sums it up right there.

Dudes are better drivers. They just show off and get in wrecks. Doi!

good point also..

the amount of concentration on road conditions alone makes people who drive manual cars better drivers. whenever i get in my dad's blazer that's auto, i don't pay as much attention and sort of zone out. it's just so boring and you have no feel of the car so you get distracted easily.

so, my point is revised...

women should not be allowed to drive unless they are taught how to drive manual by a guy.

I think if we just outlawed the automatic transmission the road would be a WAY safer place. Soccer mom can't talk on her phone, yell at kids and drink her coffee while shifting, can she? By making people drive a car that takes a minimal amount of skill to drive, the people who should not be behind the wheel would be weeded out quickly and somewhat efficiently. Just my thoughts.
