Wobbly Pivot Heel

I have a pair of pivots I got last season new that have a wobble in both heels. Has anyone else encountered this? They don’t pre-release but something is definitely damaged with them, I think from my skis hitting the posts.

Got a vid? That would help a lot.

My heels wobble on all of my sets, they have always tested fine and not given me any issues.

That happens to all bindings. The moving parts loosen over time. You can slow the wear down a bit by re-applying binding grease a few times a season to cut down on friction between the parts. Silicone based bike grease should work or you can see if you can find some binding specific grease at a shop.

I find pivots out of the box to be loose. The rivets never seem super tight and after a season they always wobble. Once theres a boot in there, there's enough forward pressure that they wont wobble on slope. Pivots are kinda ass for this reason

They definitely weren’t like this when I got them and two other pairs don’t do this. They still test okay but it makes me nervous.

A lot pivots I see that are actually skiied with regularity end up like this after 2-3 years, but sometimes faster if ridden hard. Never seen it be a problem but you could get them tested if you want

some of my pivots are really tight at that joint, some are like yours... I assumed it's all within tolerance. I don't think it affects skiing because when the boot is in, that joint is being pulled back from the force of the tube and heel lugs of the boot.

My pivots used to be solid but recently switched the brake baseplate from a 130 to 115 brake and now they wiggle. Tested fine and I don't notice them.

Something ain’t right. I’ve swapped a bunch of brake bases on my pivots. None rattled after.

did you swap them?

Mine do that.. I’m still alive.. idk I’ve been using them and working on them for years and I still don’t even know. If they test fine they’re fine. They feel different every year. They’re quirky little buggers.

Glad that this seems to be normal for other people. I feel better about them now.
