WME vs. Level 1 lawsuit details

i only go to warren miller to get the free lift tickets, this year im getting the tickets and not watching the film, last years was a joke they filmed these guys who play music and suck at snowboarding....

I heard someone say that WME buys footage off companies. So for the future as I have no immediate solution, there should just be an alliance against WME to take down the company.

believe it or not i could see this turning out pretty good for level one

tons of exposure on the news, in the ski community

people seeing how ridiculous WME is

just look at this, everyone is now talking about refresh and how bad we feel for level 1, how sick the movie it, how we are going to band together and help them. What could be better for them. where is that talk for the other companies at the moment.

sure they have the stress of this lawsuit, but it sounds like its ridiculous and that they will win( not knowing any of the facts), then they can counter sue for their own damages and get their money back.

in the end they have our support, money, and our hearts

You realize that the point of a boycott is not to make the theatre look empty, but to make their pocketbooks look empty, right? So...your plan is to give them money and then refuse to watch. That's not very effective.

True, but I can think of a couple of instances where riders who were not impressed with the way a particular company carried on business and on that basis decided not to film with them anymore.

yo you guys gotta write reviews. the comments get deleted in a heartbeat, seems like they cant delete reviews, and you dont need to become a fan to leave one. plus, we gotta be a little more professional or else we all look like little brats. NO CAPS AND NO SWEARING. dont give them any extra reasons to delete

guys your posts didnt get deleted if you click "just fans" underneath the write something it shows a whole bunch of posts

this is straight up ridiculous,

but im kinda loving the whole everyone on ns banding together trying to fuck with wme, because they deserve it. haha and im sure every at level one is stoked by all this support.

To Whom It May Concern,

I've been reading about the claims you've stated about Level 1 and their "trademark infringement" of Mr. Miller. I have yet to see "Refresh," but have read that Mr. Miller's voice is the only thing of him used. I don't know how your company is financially but, would the results of your actions give you enough monetary satisfaction? Does attacking one of the best ski-movie production companies in the world fill the void you have? If you feel that this action is that of a positive one, why do you not advertise this on your website under the "In the News" column? I feel that you are however "disconnecting" instead of "[connecting] people to their passions," as also boldy stated on your homepage. Your recent action against L1P has gone against your claim of being "the most respected name in action sports filmmaking." I've notices that many fellow freeskiers have turned 180 degrees against your company and it's productions. This topic of you suing Level 1 and Mr. Berman makes me very sad and wonder what the ski industry is coming to. I feel sorry for you, that, in order to acheive happiness/satisfaction/pleasure/what ever it is you're looking for, you go against your "fellow" ski enthusiasts. Sincerely, Joe

my letter to the Bonnier Corp. hopefully every voice heard counts.

Here's an idea... start emailing Jeep. They have to be one of the biggest sponsors of WME films. If they start to feel a bad taste in their mouth they might drop their sponsorship. Sponsorship $ is pretty huge for ski films.

This is an excellent idea.

There is the email form.

Including WME sponsors in a boycott is the best way to put pressure on this company. A respectful e-mail informing them of your decision not to purchase from Jeep in the future, that you will tell your friends to do likewise, and why you're doing it, works nicely.

This is Bull Shit, I honestly never knew that the real Warren Miller was not even part of WME films recently. FUCK WME, this is complete BULL SHIT.

im not a lawyer, but it seems like wme doesnt have a very good case because they are not suing for a breach of the liscensing agreement, but for "irreparable damages" caused by the use of warren miller. Considering the fact that they are not citing the liscense agreement, they are basically tryin to sue level 1 for using someone - Warren Miller, who agreed to do the part - who makes their movie better. They might as well sue l1 for having wallisch and casabon in their movies.

I made a new thread expanding on it. There are other sponsors that could use some prodding to drop their support.
