before seeing this video i didn`t even knew that people used skis for something else than racing or shredding powder

Fuck yeah that's my all time favorite ski movie. Superpark segment is tight, my buddies and I used to watch that shit on the way up to the mountain

candide thovex hitting that big jump in Super Park, that was back in 2002/2003 i guess. I was a racer back than, seeing that part got me into freeskiing forever.

That is so awesome man! This makes me very happy to hear. It's one of my favorites too. Initially it was gonna be Brogan, Ahmet and Hornbeck. Hornbeck had a ton of shots but didn't want to use them in it because he didn't want to put out more than 1 or 2 edits that season. Kinda weird but whatever.

I was really bummed because his shots were sick as fuck but it turned out nice anyway. Around the same time I shot a bit with Liam and so I wanted to include those shots because he was killing it and obviously he's the shit. We didn't have enough shots for an edit of his own and I didn't want them to fall by the wayside so I included them with the Brogan/Ahmet edit and the B.A.D. (Brogan Ahmet Downey) edit was birthed.

I remember when I was 11. It was summer time and I was in the mood for some skiing. I watched some race vids on youtube (was a racer at the time) and remembered that the news station came to my home mountain for a story. I wondered if they put that story on youtube, so i searched "ski story 7 springs ". Up came a ski edit that I can't remember the name of. Anyway I watched it and it blew my mind. I was thinking "hey I know that place", or "I've seen those people". I saw them throwing all these cool spins and and grinds. That weekend I went and tried boxes, and 180s etc. And I progressed season after season. Thank you first edit I witnessed.

no idea about the first edit I watched.

but my first movie (which is extremely underrated)-

This thread makes me feel old. I'm by no means an OG skier but you guys are posting edits from like three years ago. For me personally it was Wally's superunknown. My buddy and I always played SSX on tour (skied of course). We were thinking about starting to freeski and then we saw the edit.

Our fate was sealed

This is probably the first edit I watched continuously. Especially Wallisch's seg at the end.

First movie I owned was show and prove or ski porn. The first edit was the hyphy edit for sure. That got me really skiing.

I haven't been able to find these edits, but probably all the rider edits on the 4frnt site in 06 or 07. Sterbenz, Hornbeck, Steele, etc... such good edits, and I wish I could find them.

Kinda funny how it always used to just be about segments. It's somewhat bittersweet. It's awesome having so much high quality content available mid-season but it doesn't have the same allure as it used to. Sure people are still putting out quality segments (especially Stept), but segments aren't talked about in nearly the same regard as they used to be.

My first movies I saw were Degenerates, 13, Harvest and Balance (all of which I saw in or around '99), along with a lot of classic Warren Miller flicks I had seen before. It really opened my eyes and like many others in here I said "I need to do this". Segments like Chricton in Forward, Pep and Tanner in 1242, the entirety of Royalty, Vinnie D and Cusson in the Game are forever burned in my mind. I couldn't wait for that next groundbreaking segment to come out in the summer or fall.

I definitely miss that. Then again it's part of aging too I suppose. Priorities shift but at the same time it feels like some of the magic is gone from transcendent segments. I digress.
