Wisdom Teeth Recovery

Taking ns medical advice with a grain of salt but how long did it take for people to recover from wisdom teeth removal surgery? I’m trying to schedule a camping trip with the bros and figuring out how long after I can plan it.

you'll need exactly 3 days to recover. no more. no less. if you smoke lots of cigarettes you might be able to get it down to 2 though.

Eh you only need to recover for like 1 maybe 2 days after. If you were trying to go to like a judo class or something that could pop your stitches, maybe 4 or 5 days.

Depends if they're impacted or not.

My surgery was super easy. I only had 2 removed and I didn't need any painkillers beyond Tylenol, was off work for 2 days because of blood more than pain, and was eating normal food pretty soon after.

My dad however, had 4 removed, all of which were impacted and he was in a bit of pain. I think he received painkillers but this was before the opioid crisis so no idea how that'd play out today.

I took like 5 days before I started drinking again or something like that

From what i understand oral surgeons are alot more jewish these days about tossing out vicodin.

Which could be a good thing or a bad thing. I got my wisdoms out at 23 and the doc gave me 30 vicodens. I took them out with me on my trip to aspen that spring and was taking one every morning with a redbull, and my tolerance for anything was literally zero. Incredibly fun time and i never progressed so fast in the park.

but be warned because no matter how much you think you will fight the urge to become addicted, it really is more of a roll of the dice type of thing. If you are like me then you will get addicted whether you want to or not.

And if you do get hooked your addiction will own you like dolan owns newschoolers.

but if you are a zero fucks given type of person the best advice i can give to the adventurous person is to avoid the extremes. If you go to high and do too much, youre going to overdose and die. And if you go too low and let yourself go through withdrawal, its going to make you 10 times as addicted as you were before. Withdrawal literally hollows out your soul. If you put yourself through withdrawal enough, all thats left is a hollowed out shell of the person you used to be. Withdrawal is not good. If you are addicted and you sense your going to soon have to take a withdrawal to the face then get into a methadone clinic as soon as u can.

Once you get on methadone they stabilize you on a dose that makes you feel totally fine every day. And from there you can choose to taper down slowly over the course of 1 or 2 years so its not painful. Or you can choose to stay on it for life like i did.

But opiate withdrawal is not a “rip off the bandaid” type of thing. Being very deep in opiate addiction is like having your soul perched on the top of a skyscraper. To “rip off the bandaid” would be like telling your soul to jump off the skyscraper to get down to the ground as fast as possible. Your body might survive a huge opiate withdrawal but your soul wont. If you want to conserve your soul then you gotta take your time climbing slowly down the skycraper. It takes longer yes, but would you rather take the stairs down a skycraper or just fucking jump off?

i would suggest you guys dont get involved with anything besides weed until at least college or after college.

and stay away from benzodiazepines like xanax and clonopin and ativan. Those things give you a totally worthless high and the withdrawal is still awful. And benzo withdrawal can actually kill you. Using benzos to get high is like eating asbestos to fill your stomach. Benzos are just completely fucking worthless.

Yeah I was planning on not getting opioids for the reasons you were talking about. Not worth the risk

Thats smart. If you mouth hurts get some listerine and also you can gargle salt water. The pain is only bad for like the first night tho. But you will probably be fine.

I ended up going skiing like 2 or 3 days after I got mine out. I had two that where still under my gums and 2 that were sticking out so I had some with and without stitches. I pretty much lived off yogurt and scrambled eggs for a few days until I could eat other stuff

I wouldnt worry. Its not like the drugs “encourage”you to spill your secrets. Unless you are the kind of person who tells everybody their secrets when they get drunk

Thats true.

Mine were impacted and causing trouble. Got all 4 removed and it was hell. My jaw was wired shut and puked on the first day. Couldnt eat anything, T4s lightly took the edge off the pain and ran out overnight.

By day 4, it got better; I was able to insert a spoon, swelling was starting to go down, wires started coming out.

At day 7, I did a positive displacement hit and felt awesome. No complications.

3 weeks to 4 I was back to normal, but the hole left keeps sucking in food and getting stuck for a couple years.

don't worry about that, you might be really loopy when you wake up but that will wear off and the follow-up pain meds don't make you that wacked out, not in that way at least

if you say anything under the gas or whatever it's more likely to be nonsense than a revelation. i woke up and was like "hey i love this song" and my sister was like "dude you hate this band, you tell me all the time." don't sweat it

got mine out today, pain feels ok so far but man they gave me a shit ton of novicane. my whole mouth is still numb after 13 hours

I had 4 impacted

the anesthesia I used caused short term memory loss... nobody told me so I tried to take a test two days later and got fucked over

I was out for four days total

Same, all four were impacted and they gave me heavy anesthesia, don’t remember the rest of the day. I do remember the sensation of cracking teeth while under tho, oddly enough

I think it took me almost 2 weeks to be eating solid foods. The worst part was the hunger. I looked at a lot of food porn during the recovery, just made me so much hungrier

I’d say a week to be safe, could be longer or shorter though.

if you wanna smoke bongz pull the top part off of a gatorade sports cap then make a gsauce bong and pull through your nose so you don't get a dry socket (the "most painful ailment in dentistry")

Got my lowers out in middle school, that hurt a bit for 2-3 days but it's really not bad. Got my uppers out senior year of hs and it took about 6 minutes and I played a varsity soccer game that night, very little pain. The worst is when you suck too hard on a straw or get food in the holes.

Drinking pineapple juice before and after surgery helps reduce swelling.

Literally had my stitches out in a week after getting all 4 taken out and I went skiing the next day lmao.

Had 4 impacted, skied 2 days after surgery. Mouth started to bleed if I did much so no park for like a week. Smoked a j through my nose and that was kinda nice.

Sounds like a personal experience eh?

What else was I supposed to do. I got two days off school at home alone. The Oreos filled the gaping tooth holes with black tar sugar. The immediate panic of infection was overwhelming. Just led to a good amount of water rinsing.
