Winnipeg Will be Getting an NHL Team

There's no way it would damage the Montreal canadiens' franchise. Look at Ontario, they have two teams, the Toronto maples leafs and the Ottawa senators and they have no problem accumulating profit. Why can't Quebec have two hockey teams when a state full of palm trees and sandy beaches already has two?

Its not that they travel as well, its just that all the people that have been streaming out of michigan for the last two decades all live in the west now. And so every pheonix and colorado and such games where they play the wings are the only games they sell out all year, and its not because of the hometeam fans.

Colorado sells out frequently when they dont suck ass... They did well until the last 2 years if i'm not mistaken...
Phoenix, it doesnt matter who their playing, theres more fans of the away support. I've been there for sharks games where it sold out, or nearly sold out with JUST sharks fans... Much less, whenever Montreal or Toronto steps into that building, the place is littered with their fanbases just as much as Detroit's, if not way more.
An even better example is what happens in Florida when Toronto/MTL roll in. I was watching a game earlier this season that was Toronto v. Tampa bay, and for an entire period, I kid you not, I thought that Toronto was the home team, and was wearing white tops like the old days... I didnt even really pay attention to the logo at centre ice, there were just so many louder TO fans there that I didnt even realize it.
So yeah, I wouldnt say Detroit travels the best NOR has a larger fanbase even in the states..

So far in Winnipeg, true north has sold 4,170 season tickets after two days of presale. These two days have only been open to Moose season ticket holders(AHL team). One more day of presale and then to public sale on saturday, so it looks that the target of 13,000 will be attainable.

My family is purchasing two seats once the sale opens to public, so fucking stoked to watch Jets(hopefully the name) hockey next year.

Apparemtly after all 13000 season tickets are sold which shouldn't take any longer than a few days TNSE is going to announce the name of the team. Like we dont already know its going to be the Jets...

Ontario has two teams, Toronto Maple Leafs the most profitable team in the league and the Ottawa Senators which rank 13th in profit for 2010. The Sens are down though I know they barely turned a profit this year because they kept losing.

Montreal 2nd most profitable team. Another franchise could easily be supported in a market 3 hours away. Quebeckers are crazy about hockey and another franchise could be easily sustained. Although I agree with you if they want to be marketable outside Quebec and to other players they have no change the separatist image.
