Windells worth it?

Every year I see advertisments and videos from the windells summer camp, and i finally decided to check out the website. Everything there looks sick and definitely it seems like a good time. BUT, the price is not cheap, and I don't have a lot of money to spend on fun stuff like this. SO, is the week really worth it? Is it possible to learn a lot in that short of time? Are there any deals or offers they make? And are there any less expensive summer camps?

MHSSC seems sick. From what I heard you will have a better experience. You will meet more people, and learn more. Also, its almost half the price of windells. I'm not hating on windells but money wise go to MHSSC. Searchbar this and you will find much better responses

Doesn't mean shit if you're really good or not, being there in a wealth of ski knowledge and doing it all day long will improve any person.

I would pick momentum over windels, I havnt had experience with windels though, but I went to Woodward Tahoe when the inspired crew was there and it was one of the best weeks of my life. I learned a lot too. The summer before I went to momentum and I liked momentum there unless the inspired crew or a lot of good pros are at Woodward. Sorry I didn't have any info on windels

Honestly it depends on how invested you are in skiing. As non-newschoolerish as this is, my parents offered me the opportunity to go to windells and I turned it down cause I didnt want to waste their money. I mean I love skiing but I just didn't see spending 3000 dollars for me to go ski for a week in the summer as a good use of money.

I was in the same boat. My parents aren't rich, which in the skiing world is kind of odd, I guess. A lot of kids on this site come from families with money. For my 16th birthday my mom offered to send me to Windells, MHSSC, Momentum, CoC, etc. But I declined. Because I'm never really going to put that knowledge to use, enough to make up for the 3k+ that my parent's would have invested.

I think skiing gets the wrong rep... Tbh there are a lot of privileged kids on Ns (nothing wrong with being privileged, I'll consider myself thankfully privileged) but there is a huge portion of skiers, possibly even in a majority, that are upper-middle class Americans with working parents who are dedicated to their children and not just providing for them but also making their childhood/teenage yeRs as fun as possible.

i went to MHSSC last summer over windells. it was such a sick and fun environment, everyone was cool to each other and it was awesome chilling with dudes like mcveigh and learning in the park. go to MHSSC!!

after going to coc a few years back a completely agree with this. i am super invested in skiing but still 3gs for 1 week does not seem worth it for a camp of any kind. yes the coaches are pros and all but they honestly dont care if you improve or not. It was fun as hell but not 3gs worth of fun. if you want to do some skiing over summer use the 3gs that you would spend on camp to ski mt hood public park for a month over summer.

any specific questions about coc feel free to ask

If you are at the level where your ticks are on point, you want to film, and you want to work on style and hang out with pros- go to windells.

If you want to progress the most for the best price check out MHSSC. It's under the radar as far as hype, but don't let that fool you. Top notch coaches and a super chill vibe, plus a killer tramp on the grounds. Definitely worth a look and you'll save $800+ rather than going to windells

I would definitely say yes. I have been lucky to be able to go the last two years and I would say they are the best two weeks of my life.

Wtf you kids paid to go to windells just because you want to progress? Go if you think the memories you will have from it will be worth 3 grand. I went 5 years ago and I had a great time and I am happy I did it.

I hate to break it you guys, but park skiing is one of the least teachable sports... Those pros aren't going to teach you some magical secret on how to set a trick that you didn't know or couldn't figure out on your own from watching any trick on this website. What they will do is supply you with the confidence to want to try and new things and help you progress in that sense. But that can be just as easily achieved by skiing with friends who just push each other to get better...

If you want to progress in the summer time there are far more efficient and effective ways to do so. Summer setup, trampoline, and if you have to make a trip go to somewhere with water ramps.

I went and it was fun and all. But I totally felt like I wasted my parents money. t-lines public park had a way better set up for some reason.

Imo we are all privileged to an unkown amount. From the very basics like food water shelter and clothes, to the computer/phone we are using right now. Then throw the opportunity to ski on top of all of our "basic" needs is just a blessing. Im not trying to go all preachy on you guys but we have a lot to be thankfuls for.

Take north korea for example. They just got a new ski area to open up. These peoe have little to no creativity in their lives and now they can experience a fantastic creative outlet.

All in all i would not want my parents to blow 3k on a week of skiing ever. Think about how many lift tickets you could buy with 3k.

park was top notch and it was warm and sunny when i went so the snow was soft. when i went to coc you went out to eat which is cool cause youre already spending shity loads of money so you might as well pay for some good grub, although i would just get pizza or somthing fairly cheap with my roomies but i did go out to sushi with most of the ski campers and coaches and that was a good time

If you're looking for cost, we're the best option, hands down. You'll meet a bunch of cool people and do some fun skiing. Check out my sig for more info.

Windells is a cool camp cause of the parks and all. But if your looking for an all around camp that has decent skiing but amazing recreational activities the Woodward is the place to go. Maybe even coc or momentum?

Seriously.

Also if you're over the age of 12/dont already have some small time sponsors go to MHSSC. You'll honestly have so much more fun then you could ever imagine. Mostly for the fact that you can actually leave the campus to have fun and do other activities (cliff jumping, paintball, mountain biking, etc.) Its the ultimate feeling of freedom for a teenage basically.

I disagree, I thought the food this year was pretty good. anyways i think windells is worth it. I mean considering all the costs the trip covers like going on mountain, transportation, Free demo center with next years shit, nice facilities like super nice tramps and stuff, housing, and proffesional coaching, dont forget the free shit that they give away it sounds worth it to me. besides the prices this year dropped anyways

the camp experience itself is worth the dough. i just though i had a much better time lapping the T-line park. they had a killer jump line with like 7 jumps, way more than the lane when i was there. not to mention they didn't get as rutted as the lane jumps did. if it were my choice, id just save up some money and take a killer road trip out there in the summer with some friends and ski the public park for a week or so.

i went two years ago, 2012 Session 6. Honestly it helped me improve some fears i had with hitting jumps, spinning past 360 for me on anything over a small jump always had me freaking out. I didn't learn much because i didn't know my true potential because i was scared. If i had to now this summer i would 100% go back, its all for the experience and you can say, "yeah i went skiing in Oregon during July, and met all these cool pros and won all this stuff." Coming from the East Coast, NJ area, that barely know skiing their like "WTF." Its a really good conversation started and i met a lot of different kids from the US and other countries.

If i had to go back, i would 100%, and try and push my limits, fall more, and try new things.

Although I'm going to college next year and need to start making a lot of money for when i leave, spending those 7-8 days is so much fun.

how much does a day ticket for public park at timberline run? I can't seem to find it on their website

It changes. Sometimes we get more creative setups, sometimes it's just down rails and flat rails. Kinda depends on the weather and what the diggers are feeling.

No matter which camp you pick, the public park at timberline is always really good. In my opinion you have more freedom on the hill at MHSSC. Mostly I think that MHSSC is good because once you're like 16 you can start to work for the camp by doing dishes or CITing or Kitchen staff, which I think is less of an option at windells. This lets you keep going as the years go on and not drop tons of money to ski all summer.
