That is something we have no intention of changing
Skiers and boarders will still be able to ride and hangout together on and off-hill, the only really difference is that we now WIndells will have a park dedicated to skiing.

I've never been to windells so I'm not 100% sure what it's like there but I have gone to the Snowflex camp. During coaching sessions you're pretty much with just other skiers and your coach(who obviously skis) and yeah there are snowboarders around you but you aren't doing a ton of interacting with them.
My friend is a snowboarder and I went there with her. On hill, we weren't together during coaching sessions but we did get to ride together during night sessions. Didn't I read that there is a shared park, halfpipe, and bag jump..? Why is there so much fuss. If skiers and boarders want to ride together I see a pretty nice opportunity there. And they can hang out off-hill as well.
At snowflex, there was a heavy emphasis on snowboarding. First day there they introduced all these pro snowboarders and a guest snowboard crew. Which was cool, but there was no recognition for the ski coaches... They're great coaches, I think most of them are considered "am" not really sure but there was not a single ski coach recognized which was kind of lame in my opinion.
From what I've read theres like a 2:1 ratio of skiers and snowboarders there(similar to snowflex)... It absolutely makes sense to have those boarders go to high cascade where they can be coached by the best. And this gives Windells more room to hire more(potentially better) ski coaches for the skiers. And it will ideally bring all the boarders to High Cascade so they can also make their programs better with better coaches and all that.
Sure you don't get the mix, but you still have off-hill things and those shared parks. They aren't completely segregating skiing vs. snowboarding. In my opinion they're doing something pretty dope for coaching each sport and then bringing together everyone off hill. But that's just how I see it.

i'm curious as to what a "skier park" entails
I know a snowboard only park would have lots of flat lips and pole jams, but what kind of stuff goes into a skier only park that makes it unique to skiing?

And snowboarders always suck at the trampolines when I go there and waiting for them sucks. Last year I was trying to learn backflip 360s but couldn't because so many snowboarders were there trying to do stupid front flips.

I mean I get that a lot of people ski with other boarders. My best friend is a snowboarder and I love riding with her. I get it. But everyone saying "this is segregation" is taking it a little too far in my opinion. They have a shared park, halfpipe, bag jump, and off hill stuff. Like why is that such an issue? I personally can tell a big difference skiing a park like loon and skiing HV(home hill with skiers on park crew).
They don't have a negative intention in my opinion. It sounds like they want to give the best experience there as possible for skiers and for snowboarders alike.

Windells and High Cascade are the same organization, one skiing one snowboarding. They share half of the features on the mountain, they share campus areas, just skiing is associated with windells and high cascade is associated with snowboarding. This whole change is pure branding and the camps are going to be basically the same. I don't get why anyone cares so much.

When you start to push it hard they give a bit too much flex. Going over 50mph they just don't give the amount of support a 130 custom fitted boot. The sizing is weird and it does not equivilate to your normal PROPERLY fitted ski boots. I have fitted boots from incline out of SLC in a 26.5 and needed a 28.5 in the apex. If you are going to be lapping handrails and doing jumps at the 40ft ish area they will be fine for that. Start heading up the tram at big sky or start to try do 70mph speed runs on groomies you will want your plastic boots back.
In my opinion where this boots fits into the industry right now is in:
Rental field: They are so damn comfy and fit without much hassle. If you are a first time skier regular plastic boots honest fucking suck. "Yes I would love to put my foot into a hard plastic clamp" said no one ever. If I put a first timer in these the will have a immensely better skiing experience and when they get better then they can invest into a pair of properly fitted boots. What also is nice is if someone wants to try snowboarding they can wear the same boot and you just hand the renter a snowboard.
Comfort for on mountain work: Lets be honest here. If you are going to use a snowmobile its a lot nicer to be riding in snowboard boots than plastic ski boots. When I was a lifty I leaned how to snowboard just so I could bump in board boots and just slide my feet into some flow bindings and get to riding or going to the next place without the hassle of putting ski boots on.

Meh, i don't think its the end of the world like some people seem to but it's definitely a strange decision. Snowboarders build way cooler features, and I personally find watching them shred to be much more inspirational than watching skiers. They do way iller presses and just generally ride with a better flow than most skiers.
Momentum is all skiing and tbh it kinda suffers cause of it. There's a plethora of jock skiers just there for the big jump and thus, the rails aren't as good. More people with different perspectives is a good thing and I think Windells benefits from having the input of both skiers and snowboarders.
