im making my first legit edit and in my follow shots for big jumps there is a very high wind sound due to the speed I'm traveling. I have a rode video mic pro with a dead cat on it but the sound of the wind is still pretty loud and annoying so my question is how can i reduce the sound of the wind? any help is appreciated

thanks

pretty much just mute the clip and add different take off and landing sounds or you can try putting a filter on it and removing the sounds that way as well but then you loose some of the sound in the take off and landing so it wont sound as good anyway. i would just go with option 1

Adding an audio filter like EQ (premier) or 3-band (fcp) you can turn down the DB of different frequencies. So, most wind noise is a low frequency 50-400 and you can turn it down to -20db and it will cut alot of wind noise, it helps alot I tend to use it often.

Did you know that FCP can actually host AU plugins?AU is one format of plugin that you can use in programs like Logic, Ableton, Fruity Loops etc.

I'd always wondered if video editors could host these plugins, I just found out that FCP has had that option since like version 6...

Here's a list of plugins for any FCP users, all of them are available on Mac and for free:

And here's a link to a good free Linear Phase EQ:

Oh, this also means you can host reverb plugins and such in your editor... Am I alone in thinking this is super cool or am I just late to the party?

Edit: I have a windjammer that covers the noise of a 100km/h wind and believe me, you don't hear a single wind sound. (Equipment we use in the news industry)
