It's currently in the 5th set, Isner is up 43-42 and the match has been going for 8 hours. Fucking ridiculous
 
thats just how the score in tennis is kept, once somebody scores one point its called 15, 2 is 30, and 3 is 40...so 40-40 means they both have 3 points and are tied at deuce.

at deuce they have to win 2 points in a row to win the game...

they have to win 4 games to win the set.

they have to win i think 2, or 4 sets deppending on the match, i havent played in awhile.

there are points, the go 0-15-30-40, or 40-40 = deuce when someone gets 5 points, past 40 or past AD deuce then they win the game, (lol, the game) that game then goes into the score of the set, sets are played to 6 games mostly, but if the games are tied 6-6, then there is usually a tiebreaker. You have to win 3 sets to win the match. (mens tennis) in wimbledon on the 5th set if no one has one three sets to win the match, then they keepin playing games no tiebreakers untill someone wins.

also Isner has 91 aces in this match alone (ace = serve where the other person cannot hit the ball)

and the score of the set currently is 51-52 games. fucken retarted.

 
commentary fucking sucks. stupid bitch saying how many aces there are every 2 minutes and how long the match is and the history, we are watching history just shut up already. but when they try to compare it to baseball and football games is the worst. that mahut guy is a machine he is still running around like crazy.
 
For those who do not know. A professional tennis Mach is first player to win 3 out of 5 sets. In a grand slam the fifth set is played out and will go until someone wins by two games. Right now it is 58-57 meaning they have played 115 games this set alone and other sets play to a maximum of 13 games..they will both be sent straight to the hospital to be treated with severe dehydration
 
The loser of this game will have played nine straight hours for nothing, and the winner will lose next round anyway

this is insane.... I cant imagine what the loser is going to feel like. It is crazy to play tennis for 9 hours and 58 minutes!!!!!!
 
no it is not. some 9 inning baseball games go four plus hours. max it would be somewhere in the 20s. also in most majors the 5th set goes to a tiebreak, im pretty sure only in wimbledon they play it out.
 
just calculate it more like that: take the longest MLB game in history and multiply with 1.666 . since this is the relation of the previous record to that game now. its not even close.

incredibly, 59-59 and tomorrow we go again. whoever wins this goes 0-6,0-6,0-6 in the next round. i mean they have to be totally empty.
 
Did you just compare a game of Baseball to a Tennis macht???? And the US Open is the only Grand Slam to have a tie-break in the fifth and final set. (due to tv crap)
Should they change the rules?Maybe monitor health and safety of the player more, but change it to a tie-break no!

I cant believe its gonna go on for another like 7 hrs. Thats what the ESPN guys just told me hha. 59-59 is insanity.
 
the commentators were trying to every 30 minutes it was idiotic. they were also trying to compare it to amount of touchdowns in a football game. and read my earlier posts i was responding to the retard who said it would be a 60 plus inning baseball game.
 
You need to win 6 games to win a set, and must be by 2.

so you can't win 6-5, but you can win 7-5.

and that match is amazing, its 59-59 and going to a third.
