William DeSena's Reel 2011

Some good stuff, but I agree with Evan, if you want it to be a reel it has to be shorter. I can understand you wanting to use the whole song, and it was perfect the way you did, but it doesn't really fit into the category of a reel at that point.

Anyways, keep up the good work!
 
I don't really see why I reel can't be lengthy.

He is still showing a "reel" of his favourite shots. I don't really see why it has to be limited in length. Maybe if the shot quality decreased due to length, cutting down would be a good option, but that was not at all the case here.

I loved every minute of this reel. Super, super well done
 
The definition of a reel is a short, 1-2 minute clip of your best cinematography and/or editing. You wouldn't send out a 7 min reel for a job application, they would turn it off after 2 minutes. A reel is like a ski promo, it's suppose to be short and concise, show their skill and is suppose to leave the viewer wanting more. This isn't an issue with opinion, this is a fact. The definition of a reel is not subjective, its objective. Needless to say, will killed this video and as a 7 minute video it is amazing, if he wants to call it a reel thats okay. I feel like just because my name is eheath people disagree with me or think i'm always being a douche, even if I am right, quite unfortunate because I'm a pretty nice guy :)
 
you should change your name to something generic and see what people think of your posts at first.

Actually, four years ago I was an intern at Lone Wolf Productions, a documentary group located in Maine that does series for History Channel, PBS, etc.

I was filing papers! But the time I was working there, LWP actually made an 11 min reel about a series they were creating for the History Channel.

I mean Brain Farm's 2010 Cinema Reel is 6 minutes.

I understand what you are trying to say, I just think your comment of a reel having to be 2 minutes in length, and that "being a fact", is completely wrong. It's just common.

Word. I'm a stickler for technicalities and accuracies as well. The video was awesome. Very well shot and put together, thoroughly enjoyable.
 
First off, very sick dude. However there is a video section, and i can appreciate wanting people to check your reel but i feel that there has been a flood of video threads in the ski gabber instead of just putting them in the video section where they should be. That in no way applies solely to you; just food for thought.
 
Yeah nobody gives a fuck. Ski Gabber is a place to discuss skiing related things. This video is skiing related, therefore it's an appropriate place to discuss it.

The reel was phenomenal by the way. I'm excited to see what comes out of this season
 
Who gives a shit about semantics? Get over it. It was a very good video. Stop bitching about what it's called and enjoy it (or don't) for what it is. I love how you haven't even watched the video yet and somehow find something to get bent out of shape over. Typical eheath.

Admittedly we're working with him to get it up in the video section, but due to the different aspect ratio, we are having to make some adjustments to the encoder before it will come in the right format.

I do agree with whoever it was that said that ski gabber is about talking skiing... if this is something related to skiing and people want to talk about it... well then so be it.

 
True that of course that is what the ski gabber is meant for any and all topics skiing, I just don't want to see it turn into an outlet for everyone to post their videos to get quicker exposure or whatever their reason may be.

I just know that I really enjoyed every minute of it, and was very happy with the fact that it was longer, because frankly I didn't want it to end.

Please don't take my comment as any sort of hate or disagreement with you as a person though. I usually agree with everything you say, and don't quite understand all the hate you get.

it came up on my news feed on FB that revive media is coming to an end. that made me think of this reel....so I thought i would bump this....

In my opinion, this is one of the best constructed reels that I have seen come from someone on this site.
