Will we be able to edit posts?

Every time we have suggested actually implementing this it has been met with a ton of resistance, stating that its a 'charm' of Newschoolers.

(Personal Opinion)

Editing posts would cause chaos... People would post ridiculous things, wait for people to get their jimmies rustled, then change what they said. It would take trolling to a new level, causing many people to become fed up with the forums.

(Questions/Thoughts)

Wouldn't editing posts cause some amount of integrity loss in the forums? NSG doesn't necessarily count here...

I know many don't know/use this, but there is a preview button, so, in theory, shouldn't ever post be "correct" and not need editing?

Are we talking editing every individual post you've ever made or just being able to edit thread opriginal posts?

^ who really bothers with the preview button, even posting images all you have to do is make sure you've written it right.

And to solve the create a petition that gets hundreds of signatures and then changes it to legalise paedophilia problem, just have edit history, so you can see what it was before?

But then thats my point, why would we need to edit posts if no one even bothers to check simple spelling and such?

I just personally think the benefits aren't nearly as high as problems it could create. But maybe i'm just not envisioning it correctly.

Well... you could make a flag that shows when a post has been edited or something like that if it was a total game changer.

the post should only be editable for like 10 or 20 minutes after it was posted, just in case you forgot to add something or a link isn't displayed right or that the picture doesn't show up, etc.

There should also be a way to view what was originality posted !

NO. imagine if there was no faunt thread because it was edited to something that didnt relate to anything at all. if it is bad enough it will be deleted by mods

If posts are editable there definitely needs to be a way to see the original post.

But as for link not displaying right or picture doesn't show up, etc., that is what the preview button is for. That's the point I made above, instead of making a sale thread or something and trying to race to get it done, the preview button beautifully shows how your post will look, pictures, links, etc. and changes/corrections can be made before the mistake occurs.

It does make sense if you forget something, but I think if you start with a short time frame, it will be slowly expanded over time.
