Will Rossignol...

Get left in the dust in the twin market? Aside from the S7 is seems like the same ol' same ol' out of Rossi for years. Their park ski, now called the S4, has been the exact same design since 2006 when the Scratch FS moved to an 84 mm waist. It is still made with a THC core (seriously?). The Scratch BC/Brigade/S5 has remained unchanged for FOUR seasons now. Same dimensions, sidewalls, flex, etc. Sure, an occasional tweak.

Anyone else think this or do you think the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" ideology works?

i thought Will Rossignol was a person.

and yes, they need to spice things up, and quick.

i dont think you NEED to be coming out with new shit every year to be the best, or in the running. its not like their skis dont work, or they aren't up to date. they work fine.

its like Apple, they come out with new stuff every six months, and its almost too much. like i can't keep up to date with stuff. i would be scared to buy a computer because it could be considered the old model withing a few months. they are also going to ware themselves out, they are going to go so far, they wont have anything left to do. terabyte ipods the size of your thumb in the future? i doubt it, but it seems like thats what they air aiming for in the near future. sometimes you gotta slow down, if you make a good product, people will buy, you dont have to have all the newest tech stuff all the time

I completely agree with your statement. I am not saying they need to, just wondering if they will be out of the freeride game soon. When someone has a question about a park ski/all-mountain ski to purchase I NEVER hear anyone suggest the Scratch FS/S4 any more.

But the S5/Brigade/BC is just such a great design. It might not be the crazy new technology, but damn is it a great ski to own.

no pics of rocker but

the dimensions are 128-98-118

You will not regret it my friend. My favorite ski ever.
S5s are a good example of why Rossi will not get left behind. Same goes for S7s.

The s3 is sickk. Just wait kiddies, perfect ski if you want to be cool and use a rockered mid-fat ski in the park, perfect for EC pow ski, perfect for just everything around ski.

Ever heard the saying "if it aint broke, don't fix it"

That saying applies here. We continue to have great sales with the s4, and s5, and s6. Thats why there staying the same. With that said, the s4 is one of most dominate skis at a high end level... x games winner 3 years in a row.

We will change the skis if we feel necessary, but until then, we will use the great shapes and sizes that we currently have.

I think a lot of this perception of Rossignol disappearing from the scene, in my opinion, is their lack of exposure in the NS media and maybe freesking media in general. Since they cut back their team it seems like you never hear about Rossi athletes at all. Especially when you compare it to Amplid, Solomon, or Line athletes, that continually post videos and are always talked about on NS. Compared to the marketing that these guys put on you start to forget about the Rossi athleetes and the Rossi products.

I think when Rossi's business improves and when they re-vamp their team and more effectivley markets their products, people will remember them and their products again.

And to illustarate this point, I don't even know who Rossi's Marque athlete is, Xavier maybe? Sage?

the thing is, i work for a shop that only sells volkl, dynastar, and nordica :/

so i can get sick deals on those, but not rossie

NS isn't as large a market as many think. Working in a ski shop I know tons of kids who have never heard of it and go with the knowledge I give them, and word of mouth to make a purchase decision.

With that said, one thing Rossignol is doing very well is their company reps. While there's really only one rep I don't like who comes through the shop I work at, Rossignol easily has THE BEST team in the midwest region (of the companies that my shop carries). Both the ski and snowboard team have the funniest most knowledgeable guys. They always spend the extra time to give us the best info and tips to sell their products and generally are super stoked to be their. We laugh, learn, and have a great time while learning about their products and Rossi is the company I feel the most comfortable in calling up, asking a favor or just hanging out with them.

So while they might not stress certain areas that some people see, Rossi is killing it everywhere else. Their 100 year history is filled with innovation and style and in no way should they be left out of this niche in the market!

I don't know, I have always seen Rossignol as making high quality skis, marketing or who is on their team really doesn't affect that. I mean, if somebody that everybody loved started ridding on Rossi, then people would be like "hey, he rides for them, they must do something right with their skis." Thisbrings the other debate of either taht or they pay well, but i would hope pros ride for a company that they like, ride skis they like and ski just to ski. Obviously they need some money too, but i think they should pick who they like not wh pays the most. They seem kinda like line was a few years ago, maybe. I don't know if that's the approiate comparison. Maybe pre-traveling circus at least.

On the subjet of the thread, if the shape is good, why change it. Everybody can't be line and release afterbangs very year. I they have a formula for a design that has been working for years, they could proably improve the materials and stuff, but leave the shape as is.

To clarify what i said earlier, I didn't mean to say that Rossi makes bad products or their sales are doing poorly because NS dosen't hear much about them. I'm sure Rossi is doing good things and has good products.

What i meant in the earlier post was that as far as NS people are concerned, I think most of us rarely think about Rossi anymore. And this was a response to the original question of "Will Rossi make it in the future?" I was trying to say that I think the common perception in NS is that Rossi is not doing good/big things because no one on NS hears about them anymore.

Well maybe NS isn't the market Rossi is going after. Because let's be honest. Most of the kids here make their purchases solely on whats "in". Being the cool, hip company is tough especially with an established company like Rossi.

Also the 7 artistic sins, the first campaign Rossi came out with (I don't know if it's called something different now) was absolutely amazing. It didn't catch on at NS too much because how much does a 13,14,15,16 year old care about art? Not too much, they just want a dope graphic and could care less about what it means or who made it. I don't know for certain but I'm sure the "S" campaign did much better with older generations. 20+ people.
