Will my boots be a little too big?

Recently bought a pair of ft dropkicks and when they measured my feet it said 27.5 but when I tried that size it was literally painful to wear so I bought 28.5 and they felt way better. However, when trying them on the slopes for the first time today i was wondering if they weren’t a tiny bit to big. My feet isn’t moving crazy in them but my heel lifts a little bit. Is it something that will be easy to fix with thicker sox etc? Besides that they were a comfortable.

p.s. my previous boots were also 28.5 (i wear 10.5/11 in shies)

Did you go to a boot fitter or just a shop that measures feet and tells you a size like a Payless shoes?

I couldn’t find a boot fitter near me. There was a place who molds boots about an hour away but I’ve been told many times that It didn’t changed much and that I I wanted to get my boots molded I could go anytime.

Your boots are most likely too big. Have you shell fit the boots?

Idk what that is? Onky thing I could tell you was that the 27.5 were really painfull. Is it to late to shell fit?

There is a thread stickied at the top of the gear talk forum that explains it all. It’s called “How to buy ski boots”.

definitely wanna see a fitter, but if that’s not an option check out patriot footbeds. They sell little kits online (foam for under heel and shin, volume reducers, footbeds, etc..) to tweak the fit if you can’t make it out to a fitter. Again fitter is definitely best and important but if that’s not an option check out patriot.

I second this. OP, it definitely sounds like you made the mistake every skier has at some point in their career, and bought boots that were comfortable and not actually a proper fit for your foot. Not too worry though, J bars and foam from patriot can help the issues.

Thanks alot, glad to hear I won’t have to cash out on another set of boots. :)

They’ve got one called the “loose boot kit” sounds appropriate lol. Under “buy now” scroll to the kits and take a look around. He posts tutorials for all kits too

I know a few brands make volume inserts that could help. Also when your trying on ski boots for the first time there gonna feel a little tighter. since your putting a lot of forward weight when you ski your ankle will sit in the back of the boot better and not feel so cramped. but if it's just your heel moving you have an issue with get j bar liners or inserts

your def in the wrong size, i wear a 12-12.5 and rock 27.5 boots, they may be pretty tight but the direct power you get from a snug-fitting boot is worth it.
