Will getting a ticket from a photo radar vehicle in a rental car raise my insurance rates?

Last night, I dropped my car off at the dealership we bought it from to get an alignment and they gave me a car to borrow while the work was being done. On the way home, I got a ticket from one of those minivans covered in lights and shit that take pictures.

My friend said this happened to his sister and she didnt have to pay the ticket or get points or pay more insurance or anything since it was a borrowed car. Is this true?

only picture I found

i hate those things

my town, boulder, just upgraded from the giant, easy to spot, rape vans to minivans. It is so much harder to spot them now, but when they are out the put signs up near them that say "photo radar immediately ahead"

you cant see its a radar until you've passed it/seen the flash...

fucking speeding cam's are all overt montgomery county (MD)... sometimes they are the easy to spot 3 poles with the lines painted on the road, or the portable rape+minivans with cameras, and my personal least favorite is the one that is disguised as a fucking trash can

fuck the police!!

while I don't like getting tickets I'm glad they remove the profiling aspect

also, the ticket in the mail is just a request to pay, they need to physically serve you for it to be valid

As annoying as hell mobile speed cameras are, you'll be the one fronting the fine/ticket and points.. The hire company will have all your details for the time you had it and will just forward anything in that time.

Sucks.

No points will be taken off and your insurance will not raise. They are not legally allowed to take a picture of the driver, just the car. The car company will tell them the address to bill the ticket to, or will pay it and charge you for a reimbursement.

Solution to your problem. I don't drive without mine, basically the only way you can get caught is if you are laser'ed directly by the cop without warning

and are also very much illegal in a lot of places. and also only work for specific types of speed detection. and can be detected themselves.

why not just stick to the 10 over the limit, and not risk getting a ticket/killing someone or yourself.

cause 10 over is still illegal and you still can get a ticket/kill someone or yourself while going 10 over.... so why not fuck tha police and nascar your way through the streets??

The ticket will go to the rental company, then they'll make you pay it. Won't get any points or insurance hikes though cause they can't prove you were the one driving. At least that's how I think it works in alberta.

where I am, in Ontario, you will almost never get a ticket going up to 10 over the limit. Unless you're considered to be driving dangerously.

Obviously you can still kill someone going the speed limit, but it's just so much easier to get into a serious accident while not obeying the limit. Take driving on the highway, if everyone's going 110-120 in a steady flow of traffic there's no way someone's going to fuck up. You;d have to be a really terrible driver. But as soon as you have that person going 140 through all the traffic that's when you get accidents, not necessarily because they're a bad driver but because no one else on the road is expecting it. so someone is going to change lanes and is expecting everyone to be going a relatively similar speed then all of a sudden someone's pounding down the road going 30/h faster then boom, accidents happen.

same for drivers going way too slow, it's just not expected and increases the chance of accidents.

maybe I take it a tad seriously, but I've had my share of friends killed in accidents and it's really not worth driving dangerously just to get somewhere 10 minutes faster.

I'm actually gonna give you legit advice since i work in an insurance company.

You'll know if it affects your insurance rates when you get the ticket. If you never receive the ticket that means the police has not linked it to your record and it won't show up when insurance companies do a background check and that's what will make the rate go up.

Basically, you can't know for sure until you receive a ticket, if you don't you're safe

Fuck no.

You get caught, you pay. Doesn't matter who's car it is- but I wish that were the case, shit I'd trade cars for whole years with my friends.

I saw him giving me a ticket a few weeks ago. Figured I saw his movie and he was a cool ass robot. Not at all, dude was a fucking dick about it. Only left my car there for 10 minutes. He could have just given me a warning.

Never seen this shit in Canada. Does it clock your speed and take a picture of your license, then send the ticket in the mail to you?

Nice, should have stolen that laser beam off his shoulder. God I loved that movie, has Steve Gutenberg ever made a BAD movie......I think not.

They have it in alberta, and yeah you get it in the mail. But no demerits or insurance hikes cause they don't know you were driving.
