Will 189s be way to big on me for free ski?

I am around 200cm without shoes on, and I have Vishnu 189 keys on the way. I would have ordered 184s but for some reason he only offered the keys in 180 or 189. I actually personally asked him and he said he would recommend those over the 180s for my height.

I’m really exited for them to come, but been having a bit of buyers remorse because im worried they will be way to long. Last year I had heavy 193s, so it will be a huge step up regardless, just worried I could have done better.

you are 200cm? As in 6 foot 6? unless you are a skeleton, 189 is absolutely the right size if not too small for you. There are a lot more variables to ski size than just length- including ability level, rocker profile, mount point, and skier weight/strength. For example, I have a 5'7 friend who skies 186 on3p kartels just fine, since there is a ton of tip and tail rocker making the effective edge shorter plus hes a strong enough skier to handle them- even though in theory 186 is way too big for him.

Vishnus would fall into this category- even the keys, which are stiffer and more traditional of a park ski, still are super light and have a decent amount of rocker- plus ive heard that they get softer the more you ski them. If anything, assuming you are 200cm tall, i would be more worried that the 189 keys would be too small for you and you would overpower them too easily..

I am kind of a skeleton lol. I’m about 165lbs and I’m not 6 foot 6 im actually closer to 6 foot 5.5, but it said 199 cm so I rounded up.

I’m literally the same weight and a little shorter and I like mine. My only complaint tails are super stiff compared to the noses

The tails being stiffer than the noses is sorta the whole reason the ski exists .. good for landing jumps, still playful tho. Party in the front, business in the back

Maybe it’s just cuz I weigh nothing or I need to flex them some more. I fucks with em tho

Bro is literally built like a stick

If you're an advanced skier and you've had experience with heavy 193s in the past, the 189s could be a suitable choice, especially if they are designed for your skill level and intended terrain. Longer skis can offer better stability at high speeds and in deep snow, but they may require more control.
