Wilderness experts help

So my friends and i want to spend 3 days on the Appalachian trail just chillin the wilderness. we plan on bringing as little food as possible and live off the land. what would be some supplies we would need to survive. so far all we have is a tent...

well, that's real original...Into the Wild. Have you ever been on the APP trail? If you have, you'd know that the only thing you'll find to eat is squirrel and other small shit. In my 20 years of living and hiking NH, ME, and VT, I've never so much as seen a deer on the trails. You need to go out into the real wilderness to be able to live off the land. Don't be stupid, by going out with no food you are just begging to end up like that moron in Into the Wild. I encourage you to read about people who have died on this trail, because plenty of people have.

you didnt comprehend how his type is more of a cliche, and that living off the land is infinitely harder then you imagine?
itd be super easy for a few days, but bring enough to sustain you for longer then your prepared to be out. make sure you have plenty iodine pills AND a water purification system. nuts/peanut butter are a great source of protein, and trail mix tastes godly when out camping. obviously you need hot dogs. bread for the carbs/energy, but that can get moldy pretty fast. dry soup, and lost of it

I think that seriously was sarcasm, 3 days isn't that long man, i live right on the trail and am always hiking it and so on, take a look at the weather prior to leaving. A tent is important but honestly if your going for 3 days and the weather is going to be nice i would almost ditch the tent to save on weight. At least around me there are solid shelters along the trail, see if one if near where you will be hiking, living off the land will be tough"ish" the best wildlife you will be able to get is squirrel, there are also a million rabbits around because they just had there baby's a few weeks ago, I'm in ny pretty close to pa where youre at, in a few weeks the wild raspberry will be rip and ready to eat that should help too if you can find some.

^dont pack a gun, the trail doesnt promote it and its frounded upon a little as well, make sure you bring a knife and some rope however,

im actually thinking about doing a 200 mile go from me to near killington vt, should take about 2 weeks, well see if i get around to it though, have fun man the trail is awesome, you will definitely meet some great people along the way

Youll be fine with a tent, matches, water and some granola bars and shit like that if you know how to fish/catch other food. If not, bring some food...

eating another human who is suffering from malnutrition wont do much beyond fill your belly. all of the things your body is lacking are the same things they're lacking too. so dont eat your friends when it comes down to it.

Yea i was kinda kidding about the into the wild thing (its an inside joke.) i guess we will bring food because it seems like finding our own food is a bad idea. but what kinda supplies would we need we arent really outdoorsy besides skiing.

Tent is a good idea,

30+ degree bags

knives

compass and or map

watch

eating utensils (bowl and a fork)

Matches/lighter

flashlight

sleeping pad

small pot to boil water

small hiking stove (Jetboils are awesome)

rope/fishing hooks/fishing line

first aid kit

good boots and alot of socks

and youll need a good backpack

I'm have no experience on the APP Trail but bringing some kind of water purification would be wise as well. Just some iodine tablets or something of that sort. Water filters are unneccessary.

This may seem like a lot of stuff but its pretty essential to do it comfortably. You dont NEED all the stuff but it will be more enjoyable if you bring them.

I spent 2 weeks out in the boonies of New Mexico at Philmont, so I know my shit.

I'm an expert. Like on pawn stars, I'm an expert. Not in wilderness, but porn. I would advise bringing a female with you, and making a sweet porn. Then sending me the tape. As for supplies needed for this: Alcohol to get girl drunk enough to make such a film Protection, if she's willing to go in the wilderness with men by herself, she probably has aids A video camera-pics or it didn't happen A candle stick-multiple purposes Toilet paper, you never know
Do this, and you will be set for life.

i dont think theres a spot anywhere on the entire trail that is longer than a days walking distance from the nearest major city lol.
