Wide playful ski... hellbent, genome, etc...?

hey ns, i'm thinking about looking into a pretty wide ski that i can use on the whole mtn. i broke my JJs, so i want a buttery ski to replace them. basically something that my chopsticks are not: over 128mm underfoot that can carve on groomers!

i've found some new k2 189 hellbents and also new 194 liberty genomes in the $375 region, and they both sound phenomenal, but i've never skied either. suggestions? the genomes sound lighter, which will lengthen my day, but the hellbents sound like they have more camber underfoot (which i like), but i dont want something so heavy that i'll tire easily.

they'll be used for east coast dinking around, and also trips out west (and whenever i move back there). i'm 6'3" 220lbs and put in 60+ days a year. i have park skis but these may be used for jumps/jibbing as well

feel free to make suggestions/comments. thanks

Line ep pros! Fuckin best pow skis i have ever rode, hence why i still ride them. Kill from the pow to the park

I'm looking for something over 185cm. my chopsticks are that length and i know i could use something longer

thanks tho, +k

oh and i forgot about the on3p caylor lite which is softer than the normal caylor so more playful and it comes in a 191

nordica radict? on the stiff side but at your height and weight it shouldnt be to bad. or get the patron in a 193. 113 underfoot so a bit narrower than what you are looking for but wicked fun everywhere.

I had EP Pros, now have 2011 Hellbents... the Hellbents kill the EP Pros for everything except slow-speed jibby tree pow, in my opinion. They are a solid leap better on groomers, especially at speed.

With all due respect to the EP Pros - they're still really really fun skis, especially if you're a lighter skier (I'm not). I was kinda sad to see them go - they delammed and to get them warrantied the distributor had to put a skill-saw through them.

yea it is a hard thing to accomplish, but i want something that can carve better than my full reverse camber chopsticks, and it sounds like the hellbents have enough camber underfoot to accomplish this

anyone over 200lbs think the hellbents are too soft for day to day use? i plan on buttering, switch carves in pow and on groomers, jumps, cliffs, trees, etc

i have volkl walls, just got k2 fujas, and volkl chopsticks... is it stupid to spend my tax returns on new skis?

The 189 HellBent would be a really fun ski, 132mm under foot, but there is no camber, it is flat under foot. With that said it can still turn on groomers in a very smear style of turning. Very buttery and a fun ski, very easy to load up the tips or tails making it a very poppy ski as well. We have them at Colorado FreeSkier for $405 (free shipping) right now.

If you like camber maybe check out Line's The 130. Obviously 130mm under foot, lots of rocker in the tip and plenty of camber under foot. I light weight ski that can be skied on many days. This ski is listed at $399, also free shipping

Let me know if you have any questions.

thanks a bunch! i totally thought the hellbents had camber underfoot with early rise in the tip n tail

anybody know anything about the liberty genomes?

cant help with the libertys, but i can reccomend the Moment night trains or Moment ghost chants, skiied both this year, personally own night trains.

Night trains rip it on groomers, super fun and playful, all rocker and flat underfoot.

Ghost chants work for groomers, but chatter some, sooper dooper playful and jibby.

for someone that tall the gc and nt are too short. from what you are saying you are more towards the bibby 190 even though it is kinda stiff it is quite playful and rips groomers for how much rocker it has

Since the Hellbent went to 132mm underfoot I'm preeeettty sure (I own a pair of 179's) that they have very slight camber underfoot.

OP, I'm ~190lb and they're generally not too soft for me in a 179. Too flappy at high speed, yes, but I don't overflex them or drive over the tip.
