Wide or Wet+

Yes I know another “which vishnu” thread but i’m in a pickle. I’m skiing at bigger mountains next season and I want to buy some V’s but I don’t know which ones. I ski a decent amount of rails with some jumps and i’m worried that 106 underfoot is gonna suck on rails vs the 88(?) of the wet+. I rode my buddies regular wets and they felt good but I wish they were stiffer. I’ve been on a 96 underfoot ski this past season and they felt pretty good on rails. I’d probably get either 177 wides or 183 pluses.

106 isn’t that wide you’ll be good. Maybe look at the wide plus if you want something stiffer

I was considering the wide plus but I think the added width of the wide would help with the washy feel of the regular wets. I’m also pretty light so that’s a lot of ski for me

i trick rails and jumps on 108s, its not bad at all. the added width is a big benefit in other terrain so i would say go for it if you are a comfortable park skier

i was riding invaders at 83mm and future spins at 86mm 4+ years. Have always been big into rails over jumps too. Been ripping the give'rs at 100mm under foot the past 2 seasons. The way I grip rails/swap has changed a little but it makes sliding bigger rails so much enjoyable with the added beef underfoot. get wides

Get the Wides

I've had Wets since 2015 and they're solid if you don't plan on getting out of the park/groomers/side-hits too often. They hold up in ~8-12 inches of Montana powder suprisingly well, but get bogged down in ~3-5 inches of PNW concrete. They're a weapon on rails but once you get into bigger jumps things get sketchy on the landings if you're not perfect.

The Wide does everything the Wet does, but better... More stable at high speeds, just as capable on rails, less "squirrely" on landings and you can get into some pretty deep snow without worry. It's my go-to for park, cliffs, powder, groomers.

I spent more time on my Wets than Hellbents while in Big Sky, but that was before the Wide ski was a thing.

Tl;dr: can't go wrong with either, but the Wide is more versatile.

Yeah i’ve been on surface odysseys with 96 underfoot and they didn’t really feel too different on rails compared to my friends wet cactis

I have wets and wides and while the latter is wider I really wouldn’t say they’re much stiffer. My wides have more days than wets but they’re both like the same flex imo. The wides are a tad bit heavier though if that makes a difference to you. I would say I enjoy skiing the wets a little more but have spent more time on the wides because they can ski pretty much anything other than a major snow storm. If that makes sense lol

I’m probably gonna get wides for next season but am I able to do big jumps in them or will they just wash out? I’m talking flips and hard landings.
