Just curious how wide are the normal brakes on bindings, at what size waist will you need a wider brake.

anything above 80 underfoot won't fit with most bindings unless you bend. salomon makes replacement brakes that are 85 and 95.

how wide underfoot are they? i ride orange 1080s and i gotta wide brake, but i got them to be safe than sorry. didnt want the brake rubbing up against the sidewalls

i have a pair of stock salomon brakes on c610's that barely fit over my fischers (79 underfoot), actually they rub against the sidewall/edge just a tiny bit, but on the plus side the skis stick together like glue. so yah it doesn't hurt to buy the 85mm brakes if you have anything bigger

So if I am riding something with 76 underfoot, can I still put wide brakes on it, or will that be a bad idea?

 
^ don;t get wide brakes, when your in your bindings there just gonna stick out and possibly wash out when your tuning

kev is right, if the ski isnt wide enough, they wont retract fully toward the heel piece and you'll be left dragging em in the snow...the brakes that is.

yah wide brakes on 76mm skis is like drag tires on a suzuki samurai

He'd definitely need a wide break on 86. I have normal brakes on my darksides, and the coating shit has been completely shaved off because they rub my edges.

the regular look p12's fit on the fujatives (85mm)... according to d-structure. love the samurai comment.
