Wide-angle lens adapter help + K

Hey guys,
I want to get a wide angle lens adapter for my Camcorder (Samsung HMX20 C) and dSLR (Canon 400D).
I found this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290353038830&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

It will fit on my Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II Lensand my camcorder if I get the right step-up adapter. It says 0.7X wide angle, is that good or bad? Will it actually work?!
My other option is this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120436997576&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1756wt_921

This one is slightly different, and I would need an adapter ring for both my SLR and Camcorder for it.
Which one? Or neither?
Any help is much appreciated.

I would stay neither. Those adaptors are ok, but just ok. The will leave the edges soft/fuzzy. For the Canon 50mm it would make the lens a 55mm. Are you aware of the conversion rate on cropped sensors? On your Canon camera a 50mm = 80mm. You times the focal length by 1.6. So 50mm x 1.6 = 80mm. So 50mm x 0.7(wide angle adaptor)= 35mm x 1.6 = 55mm = not wide angle. Sure you could use the .45x lens, but that will have some issues too. These adaptors are a cheap way to get a lens. For camcorders that don't have a removable lens, they work. For SLRs, suck it up and buy a lens. Trust me, it will be worth it. Help at all?

Massively! Thanks, 10k
So which one do you think for my camcorder?
I was thinking I could get both, they are cheap (and that 0.7 wide angle is £85 ($150) on another website)...so I thought it would be worth getting anyway, unless you think it's a complete waste of money!!
I can't afford a proper w/a lens for my SLR, so it might make a reasonable substitute as I will only have two lenses to work with this winter. (I hate being broke!)

So only look at getting a 49mm lens then.
The one I ordered a while ago came with a macro lens and a .37x. use them both and it became a nice wide angle, not fisheye. However if you get a fish, you can always zoom in and out.

good luck trying to find a 49mm lens. I swear to god I have not found a single one that doesn't need step up or step down rings. I figured it better to buy a lens that was too big to avoid vignetting rather than too small. It's only a couple of mm out.
I ordered the x0.45 wide angle lens and two different step rings for the SLR Lens/Camcorder.
(49-55mm for the camcorder and 52-55 for my SLR) We'll see how it turns out! Thanks for the help!
