Wich bindings

I'm 6'1 and 165-170 lbs.

I was thinking of getting the k2 domain and I would like some advice on the bindings choice.

money is not realy an issue, i prefer to pay a bit much for quality stuff. i actualy ski at 12din but i take some weight this summer.
 
Well I dunno....I'd recommend either a jester or look/Rossi pivot/fks 140/14....but if ya don't mind the extra weight then jester pro or pivot/fks 180/18.....pricey but bombproof.....I'd def stick between at least an 8-14 din binding though
 
I would however recommend against the k2.....def do some research first on some stuff ya may not have considered...like on3p etc....I've been skiing a long time and the worst ski I've ever owned was a k2 park ski....now I do currently ride nothin but line so what does that tell ya but I'd def recommend against the k2s....
 
if you're going to be really against a brand you've had bad experiances with, you should probably give a reason as to why.

personally, i skied the Domains last year (unchanged this year) and they're a sick park ski. this year i picked up an iron maiden revival simply for the graphics.

for a binding i would say go for a jester 16 or if you really need to be held in, get the jester pro (18).
 
Well I had the k2 public enemy....some people will say to this day it was one of the best park skis ever made....I call horseypoops!.....swing weight was all wrong(confirmed by others), crappy flex(confirmed by others), chipped too easily(confirmed by others), topsheet would delam(confirmed by others), etc.....yet people swear it was a phenomenal ski and borderline legendary....I seriously used to support k2 back in the day and I still support line....but....but....the building the skis in china thing was k2s idea and I'm not crying patriotism but seriously people need jobs here and I'd much rather recommend a company that supports that like on3p than a company that still charges an arm and a leg for their skis that are built for pennies while wrecking our economy....make sense?
 
ok fair enough. now, did K2 do anything in regards to warranty?

yes the public enemy was a sick ski and K2 sold a ton of them. by the same token, so was the Dynastar Trouble Maker, Salomon Suspect and Line Afterbang. the reason you hear about all the problems these skis had is because of the huge number of skis put into the market place. if there was a legitimate problem across the entire product line, a recall would have been issued.

also remember that the Public Enemy was last made in 2007 so you're looking at 4 years ago. manufacturing has come a long way since then.

i really hate to be the bearer of bad news but you actually are crying patriotism if you want to bring up the issue of where the skis are being manufactured. add to that the fact that you support Line and your argument is null and void. to say it wasn't "Line's idea" to be made in China is a little rediculous. by supporting Line you support K2.

so, besides your skis, which we already know are made in China, is everything else you own only made in North America? because i can guarantee that if it's not, that's what's hurting the economy in regards to overseas manufacturing, not a ski company. smaller companies might be able to keep the costs of their products down because they sell directly to their consumer but the big guys have to go through the various distribution channels that will inevitably drive the price up.
 
I think you've missed the point entirely....sure I could sit here and argue the point but I'm sure you'd attempt to find holes in that as well so it's pointless....the big deal is that k2 used to fly that "made in America" flag high and proud but then they shifted to china kinda sneaky like.....ask jay if he likes the fact that his skis are made in china....go ahead send him an email....see I happen to already know his answer....so don't attempt to act like you have a shred of a clue jus because you work in the industry...just because someone's a rep or a tech at a shop doesn't mean they're the authority....but forget about that.....if k2 was a Chinese company I'd say rock on.....but they aren't....instead they take advantage of the situation but still reap the same benefits as the smaller guys building here.....to say it costs them the same in the long run to build skis is the most ridiculous thing I hath ever heard and shows that you really don't know how it all works....but whatever...here I am sucked into another argument that I said I wouldn't get into.....and FYI....I've already said that I won't be buying line anymore and no not everything in my house is made in north america....but the companies that present themselves as American but ship their jobs out I def don't support.....It'd be one thing if everything were still honky dory here but it's not....it'd be another thing if the consumers were reaping the same benefits of less expensive skis but they aren't......you do know how economies work right?
 
ok thanks for the help about bindings, I think I will get the jester. for the skis, I want to try some rocker. I looked for the moment rocker but I want to deal with my local ski shop and they don't have any moment skis. This is why I decided to get the domain. I've heard plenty of good things about these skis so I will give them a try. Again, thank you!
 
At your size, you want a high DIN binding. If you want to spend some extra cash, you can invest in one that will serve you for a few years. For this, more metal, the better. FKS 18's, Jester Pro's, S916's. If you find one for cheap on TGR or NS's sell trade forums, get it. Other bindings might work for you, just might not last more than a season or two. Be smart, pay up front now instead of risking breaking a binding or having to upgrade in a season if you want the best deal.
 
I'm about your size, and I've been using Salomon STH 16s for the past 4 seasons (original model).

The one binding has lasted me through 4 different pairs of skis, longest lasting piece of equipment I own. Never had a problem with them besides the brake sticking (that seems to be a problem with all Salomon).

This season, I am finally buying a new pair, since my old pair is pretty close to kicking the bucket.

I highly recommend the binding, I love them, they've withstood everything I've thrown at them.
