Why Virtika?

I’ve been noticing a lot of NS virtika ads. Are they that desperate for cash? Are there honestly people out there buying virtika? I’ve always roasted kids until they bought other gear. Seems a little embarrassing.

virtika gives them enough money I guess. But imo it’s funny that they turn commenting off because NS knows they will get roasted in the comments

They should just go full on montec, would do well on IG

I’m always surprised they still exist. They would be the type of company to do well in China I guess.

I always love when the monthly Virtika hate thread pops up, maybe the righteous people of NewSchoolers will attack something of substance next time... Maybe.

I agree that what David Lesh does is questionable, crashing planes on video, riding snowmobiles where you shouldn't, standing on logs when you shouldn't, and even shitting in lakes because no one should do that (or was it all photoshopped? It's a genuine question). I agree it's not a good look for him or his company.

But as we're talking about David Lesh there are countless children working and living in sub-human conditions, sufffering countless humanitarian rights violations just to obtain the prescious metals for our modern electronics, check out small scale artisanal mining...There are nets around the buildings of the plants where these electronics are manufactured to prevent people from jumping off the roof and killing themselves. What about Nike, or the Uyghur Muslims?

I guess what I'm trying to say is... There are more important things than David Lesh. These threads are always a circle jerk of "David lesh bad", "His Friday films are shit", "Whack company"... We've all said it a dozen times about David and it's quite possibly true.

Interesting that owning Virtika is synonymous with being an idiot, but owning an iPhone when the entire supply chain is damn near slave labor, that's chill..?

I bought virtika a few years ago, pants really not that great, lost waterproofness, massive rip in crotch and holes in pockets, but I would definitely consider buying another jacket, pretty good for the cost

tldr virtika sucks

I have 2 pairs of virtika bibs, they are both great and have gone through a lot of mistreatment. For 150 bucks, they are a great value buy especially since they make big tall sizes

Lesh is too much of an attention whore to get any of my money. Surprised they still exist as it seems like most of NS agrees

1. Virtika pays Newschoolers for ads

2. Newschoolers members shit on Virtika

3. Virtika loses sales

4. Virtika pays for more ads to increase sales

5. Profit??

Seriously tho virtika had a market of people that don’t care about the David Lesh stuff, plus the people that aren’t aware of it. If virtika was a good company and Lesh wasn’t a thing it could possibly become like a new Saga

How much would you pay for lesh to personally spit in your mouth?

Could it also be because their gear isn't good and their marketing sucks?

NS has a large following on Instagram. Many of those people arent on NS and are somewhat interested in virtika

For me outerwear is kind of like boots, there’s probably a handful of good reasons why small Indy companies never succeed, or aren’t formed in the first place. At best you’re just trying to copy the bigger companies that invest in real R&D.

I honestly don’t really get his marketing at all. I mean the one ad he did with the naked chicks and the camel was honestly funny but it just seemed like he never balanced that persona with any indication that he is genuine or cares that much about skiing or his customers.

Virtika has been advertising on NS for a thousand years since it was first drop. Also funny enough there were threads complaining about the ads sometimes then.

I get what you're saying, I'm only mentioning that it's not somebody they just picked up now for ads. Also I have no idea how the ads work on here.

I did inspect element on the ad iframe at the top of the page because I'm a wicked smaht computer hacker, and it revealed that the ads are served via Google's advertising network.

It probably goes one of two ways.

At some point in the last several months, you (or anyone else who is seeing Virtika ads), visited the Virtika site. Your browser ate up the cookies that the Virtika website offered it, and whoever runs ads for Virtika is retargeting your IP address through Google Ads.

In this instance, me, a patrician David Lesh ignorer, will not receive Virtika ads because I have expressed no interest in their website or product.

The other way this could work is that they're targeting 18-26-year-old males that come from a house-hold with income between $100-350,000/year interested in skiing and other degenerate behavior (also through the Google Ads)

This pretty much goes for any website that asks you to accept cookies on your first visit. If you have an account on any e-commerce website, they can see what products you're looking at, how long you spent on each product page, what you've added to your shopping cart, etc.

I remember back in the day I had virtika on snapchat and lesh used to post pics of girls titties, smashing rails, and flying pounds of weed with his plane lmaooo

Just cuz there’s worse shit out there doesn’t mean you should ignore bad shit. I think Virtika sucks and I also think Chinese concentration camps are horrible. Which one is more likely to be discussed on a ski forum?

Yeah, you're right.

It's just interesting how much we're willing to tolerate as a society depending on the industry and where it is located.

I agree with you. It’s really sad. I just watched the movie don’t look up. Kind of related and fucking crazy.

Virtika is hit or miss. Had some dope bibs back in like 2015 that lasted 1 season before blowing out in the crotch. Got a replacement pair through warranty and those lasted me another 2 seasons til I sold them for dirt cheap.. That being said.. There are so many cool brands out there these days.. Virtika just aint the move..

I just get bombarded with Planned Parenthood ads every other day on NS. They must have found out about J-Skis and are hitting the site with ads. I guess between them and Virtika I have to choose between killing babies with clippers or killing vegetation with a snowmobile.

Damn, I never get those, but I guess they just realize I've already got that covered.

tf is it with the crotch always ripping? they never had enough space for me to move around and we’re really restricting. plus all the zippers kepts breaking on my pants and jacket. the lining in the pockets broke in both pockets on my pants which was the last straw for me.

Always felt bad for people wearing Virtika kits. Like that shit is so fucking ugly. Even worse, they thought it looked good enough to spend hundreds of dollars on it. Their absolute garbage makes Montec and Dopesnow look pretty sick. Sure I don’t care for Lesh but holy fuck I have an ETERNAL BURNING HATRED FOR THEIR STUPID FUCKING DESIGNS. They’re probably not that bad if they’re ones with solid colors, a friend had a pair of all black Virtika bibs that looked okay but if you have ever spent money on a matching blue and purple kit I genuinely feel bad for you.

This thread is embarrassing and probably the reason Lesh buys ads.

If I had a dollar for every whinny ass virtika thread I could probably buy Newschoolers.

found the dude kitted in full virtika

Virtika makes one thing I like. And it's a true softshell zip up hoodie. Fortunately they stitch the logo instead of printing it. A few minutes with a seam ripper debadges it.

Legit. That looks like a shitload of stitching to get out. Does it come out looking clean when youre done?

I got a pair of signature pants half off through my college ski club, I actually really liked them. Then the crotch ripped open and they've been getting repaired by Virtika for like 2 months.
