Why the hell...

you're talking about racing your civic, had you not spent the multiple grand on that and on something that actually handles well then it would be more reasonable, you're car's desgined to drive to the shops, it's terrible at everything else.

and i drive an 1984 rabbit diesel, hardly penis compensating.

and to cclan, I believe that the desire for a new car is ingrained in the American dream. Someone had to buy the first cars, didn't they? I cannot speak for others, but here is a short list of why I would want a new car:

1. Taking care to get necessary and proper maintenance (admittedly, I have higher aspirations than an auto mechanic, although I would fucking love the job if it paid more.)

2. Being able to anticipate all the wear and tear, as I know how I drive (this goes hand in hand with vehicle respect)

3. Perhaps there is a new vehicle that I really like the look of (have you seen a 2011 Camaro? *drool*)

4. With the recent economic crisis, there has been a major overhaul of the Automotive Industry, so new vehicles actually are new, whereas a 2005 civic might as well be a 1998 civic(better aerodynamics, more efficient combustion, etc)

Yea, but is 'performance' really worth it for driving to and fro in a town?

i kinda get it if your into racing and stuff, but im sure those who do buy new and are legitimately interested in how their vehicles perform are few an far between.

@reliability

theres many upon many of reliable used vehicles out there, how worth it is the extra 30000 dollars for something that will do the job comparably and cost 5 times as much?

@warrenties

bit of a joke, oooo 100,000 mile power train warrenty, if your engine croaks after before 100,000 miles, your doing something wrong. all the other shit like cheap oil changes, bleh, here, buy this for 40000 dollars and well save you 40 bucks a year! joke.

@everything works

see reliability and figure it out.

@at more technology

just more trivial stuff to go wrong.

@less fuel

1. you can buy a whole lot of fuel for what you save

2. 2-3 mpg, reeeaaally isnt a big deal if you ask me.

again just why i see buying used to be better.

No, my civic was a gift from my parents not of my choosing, so I had to make do. Yeah yeah, i know that makes me a spoiled little bitch, but I never really brought my personal life into the conversation, and the mother with which I live is poor if anyone is counting. I would have chosen something with a lower and wider profile, I am well aware that it is no race car, but i make do. I am glad that you are comfortable with yourself, but there was really no reason to lash out when you know nothing about me. "Hurting people hurt people and are easily hurt by them"

what if...

yea lets ignore whats at hand and move this discussion into our imaginations, why would anyone base something like this on what ifs.. doesnt make sense.

and i probaly would choose used, how practical are supercars and things of the sort? just keeps one more new car off the road, its called recycling, theres few REAL reasons for buying new.

Sadly, the Honda is more appealing to me than the Bentley. You can't have blatantly red rims like that on that car without accenting the tints or having a red vinyl or anything really.....this is exactly the sort of crime the op was talking about.

........

I would, right now... much rather have a brand new 2010 F250 than a used F250 because of the stuff that comes with it in options, the MPG is better in newer cards, and with that MPG there is no power loss.

I would never insult a legend like you Mr. Panda, so I'm going to assume that you like trucks because your lifestyle Necessitates one. Us skiers need the environment to thrive :D

no not in your original post, i meant when you made reference to people driving hideously pimped out cars for mundane purposes. This is completely irrelevant to your original argument....mah bad

i dont not like the bentley because it has red, i dont like it because of what it is.

it doesnt have to be pimped out, i know i said something of the sort but what i was trying to get across was that you dont need new everything to preform mundane tasks.

There are very few real applications for new vehicles, and guys, im pretty sure the auto industry is still going to survive if the few of us refuse to buy new continue to do so. i dont feel like explaining my thoughts more.

Unfortunately that want of a truck that gets more than 12 miles to the gallon as well as the want to have a truck that doesn't ride like a Sherman tank both translate into needs to help

1.) The environment which all you libtards of NS love to rant on me for.

2.) With a nicer suspension it will cut down on the bumping which will help gas as well.

I agree, Mr. Panda, i know you driving a truck will have an impact on the larger scale approaching zero, I personally find the new f-250's to be pretty badass, but my lifestyle does not mandate a truck.....and the comment on the red rims, cclan, is of my own derision, i suppose it's a matter of personal taste. That being said, one point that you may have overlooked is the artistic value of a beautifully sculpted machine. I understand that you are a man of practical means, but do not expect everyone to agree with you in that respect. I would JIMP for a new Hyundai Tiburon or Chevy Camaro.......Volvo S40 fully pimped out is pretty pimpin as well.

so you're saying a 1985 civic will be just as reliable than a new one, just as much stuff will work and all the parts will last just as long?

lets take a clutch for an example, lets say they last 125k, if you buy a car with 100k on it, then you'll need a new clutch in 25k, if you buy a new car you'll need one in 125k.

all these replaceable items will add up, but with a new car you'll have to wait much longer to replace them.

not only that, but does a 1985 civic, have A/C, heated seats, CD player etc... even it did, they would probably be iffy at best as far as working.

you think of reliable as the engine working for 300k, which it will, but all the other replaceable items will either break, and get expensive, or will compromise the drive-ablity of the car.

Sad thing is looking at the Bentley site you have two color choices it seems like. Black or White.

Think of it like if you were a forty-year-old dating a 58 year old, she already done so much, but you haven't. So that's when you need a 35 year old to go skydiving with
