It's not my style, but I sure do appreciate who they are for skiing.

It used to be the bad cocky 12 year olds in full saga suits but I think it's changed. It's the moms and dads that I'll see wearing it. Or the kids at school that don't ski or board. Or just random people on random videos on Facebook that will be wearing something every once in a while.
It's not one of those brands anymore... One of those brands that could instantly tell you that someone knows what they are doing and will make it stylish af. And just looking at that one kid out of the hundreds of other people there and know that he gets the ski scene.
Also being able to wear something that looks sick that other people don't know too much about shows that you are knowledgeable and deep in the scene that you know a sick not-very-well-known brand.
I think that this same thing is happening to Tall T. They were a small brand that seemingly had all of the most stylish riders riding their gear at one point or another. I remember seeing some big time people like Vincent and Henrik wearing their stuff even though they had and still have other clothing sponsors.
But does tall t sponsor either one of those gods? I doubt it was more than giving them a shirt or sweatshirt upon their request. But how did tall t get those two to wear their stuff? They were that much of a seriously core brand. And look at them now.
They still sponsor the sickest set of amateurs that slay like crazy! Quinn wolferman. Keegan killbride. Sam Zahner. Etc. These kids not only put out edits with some of the most technical tricks, but also some of the most stylish and creative.
I don't know if they formally sponsor anyone or if they just give some stuff to those next level Steeze machines that ask for some stuff but either way, they are somehow represented by seemingly everyone with wicked style and tricks.
But I'm starting to see more and more of the saga styled kids wearing that stuff. Kids who can't hit a rail without approaching it inbetween their legs and can't spin with a grab. Kids who couldn't name one of the many up and coming amateurs that rep tall t. Kids with the new saga anomie pants, b&e/wallisch full tilts, line skis, etc. Kids who could go on about the new level 1 movie but couldn't name one made by any other production company. Kids who love their front 2s! These kids are starting to wear a lot of tall t stuff already even though tall t just became a company like yesterday.
Tall t is still the shit! Their marketing and skier representation game is off the hook! But give it a few more years and the traditional why hate saga post will be the why hate tall t post. It's cause these sick core brands are getting discovered by kids who make skiing seem like a stupid fad and fashion show.

A logo is meant to catch the viewers eye right off the bat. If you see the saga logo you think "oh hey, saga". If you look at the lower one you see... Nothing. You literally have to read it to understand what it is. And that is awful marketing.

Back in '08-'09 When I saw a kid rocking saga I knew that person threw down and that they absolutely shredded the park. I actually didn't buy saga for a long time because I didn't think I was good enough of a park skier to rep a brand like them, now everyone rocks saga, the sense of elitism associated with Saga is gone for me, still like the brand and how they support and promote freeskiing though

after watching some of the TAFT videos or saga ski camps and shit, it's easy to see a lot of these young kids are stoked as fuck and having a great time skiing with guys like Andy or Ian or Tim or LJ while dressed head-to-boot in their neon triple stack gear. that's fucking great if you ask me.
I think they are a pretty great company in terms of what they do for skiers and the sport (it seems like they are one of the few big ski brands to have stayed relatively true to skiing) and I don't care if you do or don't like saga due to their actual clothing (I personally really only like their pants now- most of their stuff is a little too loud for my liking now), but to hate on them because they are getting young kids interested and stoked on our sport and culture is complete asinine bullshit.

Not just Saga, but in general I don't really like to be a walking advertisement. I don't really wear giant logos on any of my clothes, skiing or streetwear. If they made pants or a jacket or something that didn't have too large of a logo and fit nice on me, I would totally buy/wear it.

In all my years of being on this site, I've never seen such a love/hate relationship with something like Saga.
Saga is pretty good stuff in my opinion.
It's pretty good quality, and every year they just seem to be going up in quality of fabrics and taping.
I've been buying their outerwear for the past 4 seasons now (I like new jackets every season), as well as layers, shirts, and soft shells.
From the first year Fatigue (which is my work coat, and holds up like a boss).
To their Monarchs (which just keep getting better and better. Also bought my dad the Wiley/4FRNT one this season, and he loves it).
And finally have an Anomie this year, it's big, and it's bright pink. Gotta love it.
I'll admit though, some of their graphics are too much. Mostly the triple stack stuff. Big logos aren't my thing (although I have multiple Academic logo tees).
But I don't see why there is so much hate.
They have a bomb ass team, well priced gear that can hold its own, and like said, rider owned, and rider operated.
This "it ain't Core" shit is stupid. Brands grow and evolve, it's how you stay in the game.
I hope none of you "core" lovers are on skis like Line.
Grow up guys, it's just skiing.
I'd hate to MORE people getting bad reps, especially the park scene.
Also, bring back the Script logo, that was my favourite.
