Hokay. So I realize that someone had probably done this already, but here's my question, and it's for everyone on this site who skis. Why do YOU ski? Be as sincere as you want.

ive skied all my life and live for the winter just to go out and ski and have a good time with friends and push it in the park and out on big mountain every chance i get going out west and push it out there also...i dunno wut i would b doing in the winter if i didnt ski..honestly have no i dea what i would b doing with out skiing

 
I think I'm with skierjulie, actually. Why not ski, indeed? Can anybody think of anything they'd rather do right now? I know I miss skiing like none other right now. Summer was too long.

if your really hardcore you can just smoke out of your hands. make a loose fist but keep your fingers together and pack the entire empty space in the middle with herb. then open up your pinky finger enough so that the herb doesnt fall out but you can light it. then just breath in from the top hole and ull get mad respect - eastar5
 
The adrenaline is unreal. Thats mostly why i do it, and because some of the best moments happen on skiing. Its just a constant source of fun.

feels good and feels good as you progress there are alays new challenges even if its hard to think of them .. gives me something to live for .. its a thrill like no other ,, brings friends together its a good scene in general with good peopel keeps me busy and the resort is where i like to hang out .. its a lifestyle all its own and one of the only sports iknow of where there is a diffrent sport so close at all times *snoboarding, blading, * so on and so fourth ..if i didnt ski id probibly be a fat boring computer geek and this world doesnt need any more of those .. skiing take away any problems .. its prolly the only time i can think clear and it keeps me level headed .. wow that felt good kinda liek theropy . ne ways this thread had been done before .. why do you ski ? do you do it so you say you can so that you can belong to this online comunity >? do you even ski or are you the computer geek posing ? who knows

i ski for that one moment when your out in the woods with two of you friends waaaay back there and you just made some sick turns in some new pow. that fell the night before. its a blue sky and sunny or its gray and still snowing HARD and you just sit there and there no sound what so ever. then the next day it can be a totaly diferent experince in the park. thats why i like sking

first of all i get really depressed in the summer, i cream my jeans when it snows, i put on all my ski stuff in the summer cause im so excited to ski, i dream about skiing, its on my mind 24/7 im pretty sure its cause it makes me fuckin happy

what better feeling is there than to stomp a new trick, or to stomp a bigger booter or something, to clean the first kink or triple kinked c rail or so? The 'I did it'-feeling is just awesome.

your friends do it, you have fun with em because you ski, you can get new friends through it and you just get more respect from people if they see you pulling a 5 over a serious booter. you're cool, but not mainstream if youre skiing.

the next big thing is powder. if you look at it objectively, you think, okay, its fresh snow that is deeper and ungroomed. but like most of you know, its just awesome, if you hit a cliff, go further, do some sick turns in deep and steep conditions, enter a wood, do smaller turns in deep 'wooden'-snow, get out of it, stand still and think: 'this is just awesome, why the fvck should someone NOT SKI?"

youre head is free, no worries, if youre skiing. that is what i like, skiing is a sport, but a sport without limits. Even if sometime, people gonna throw switch corked 7's over 80ft cliffs, land em and ride away clean, i wont say skiing has come to an end.

i also do XC-biking and freeride biking, its just the same spirit. getting faster every day, uphill and downhill, its so much like skiing, but skiing is the top of the crop.

thx to ne1 for reading this, i kno its not the best grammar or stuff, i wrote more than i had wanted to do, i get so euphoric, if i think about skiing, even though my next skiing day is months away...

It is such an amazing sport. You can cover so much ground quickly so visit lots of different places. For me,a huge part of it is being in the mountains and how beautiful they are blows my mind.

On looking at the enormity and beauty of the Earth you realise just how small we are and how big God is.

been doing it for a while, and it's amusing. unfortunately, it's one of the more expensive hobbies, but whatever. the feeling of your legs burning at the end of a sick pow day, the feeling of soaring through the air, or tearing up an urban handrail.. just amazing. i'm more on the daredevil side myself, so i love to just huck myself around. progression is one of the things that's awesome about skiing, because there's always something more to achieve. it's the same reason people play video games online.. to keep building up the rank, the competitive aspect. it's just a good time, pure and simple.

i have been doing it sence i was 4, and when i cam acorss other sports sure they were good and all, but it just didn't compare to skiing like not even close and then when my older brother got into park about 4yrs ago, i started a lil way in after him and then it just set me off, my world is skiing, i am going crazy at the moment becasue of summer... i hope to god we get muy amounts of snow come this season...

I have been skiing since the age of 4. My parents just put me in lessons, and ever since I have loved it. Its the ability to do whatever you want that I love so much. Unlike team sports, you can choose what you want to get out of the sport. Either choose to go ski park, hit a rail, go hit up the tram, grab a drink in the lodge, ski a groomer switch or whatever. And every time you hit a sick run or big jump the rush afterword is the best feeling in the world.

wow. good answers all around. all i know is that when i ski, i'm not me anymore. i'm above everything. i can just float on and be absolutely perfectly happy. it's like nothing, not a goddamn thing in this whole world, matters. if i were ever told that i had one day to live, i know that i would want to die on skis, on the hill, with the best people i know, all my skier friends, around me. sking really is the best; the best people, the best places, the best sport. everything about it is good.
