Why is Conservative Talk Radio just so hateful?

I have been going skiing with a buddy of mine lately who only listens to conservative talk radio. I havent really listened to it in the past, but after hearing it all this season I have come to this conclusion. The radio host all on those shows are very raciest, rich, old white guys and they want American to go back to the 1950s. They hate change and they hate anyone that isnt like them. I havent heard any of them say anything nice about America and yet they say they are true Americans. I cant tell if they are trolling people in order to get ratings or if they really mean what they say.

My buddy listens to those guys like they are telling him what is going to happen tomorrow and they are never right, mainly because they are basing their statements off what they believe and not real facts and data.

I tried telling him that these guys are full of shit and that pissed off him really badly. Clearly talk radio is just hate speech and fear mongering. am I wrong here?

Agreed, for some reason people hate change and they think times were better in (insert random date here)

I mean even ISIS and Al-Qaeda thinks in a similar fashion, like man times were better 2000 years ago we should just live like that!

You're not "wrong," you're just a liberal. Its a different opinion. Also, going back to a economic time like the one in 1950's would be fantastic, thats not a crazy idea (obviously without the racism).

I'm not really liberal though, I just don't agree with what the radio host say, for example one said he was glad the guy was choked to death in NYC it would send a message to other bad guys.

It kind of is though, the tax rates in the 1950s were way higher than they are now. I think people who talk about "how it was back then" or America's decay are mostly full of shit. That BS sells though: old people eat that shit up.

I try to stay away from bigger shows like Limbaugh and Stern not because I disagree with them but because I find them boring. WCCO in the Twin Cities has a radio station that I like listening to because they have to be objective and therefore have to find different stories.

I think part of it is the fact that the people that make up the liberal party are mostly black and Hispanic porch monkeys ( as well as North Easterners) so in order to get there point across they have to target these groups because that's just who makes up the demograph. Nothing personal to them. And you are correct, that comment about that guy being him being choked to death was totally uncalled for. And shouldn't of been made.

No, you don't listen to Stern because you don't have Sirius. If you weren't a poor, you'd be able to listen to him and if you had a sliver of respect, you'd realize he's the best. He invented the style of radio you enjoy so much and continues to make it more awesome.

If it wasn't for him, you'd still be listening to zoo keepers doing top 10 countdowns and Rush Limbaugh wouldn't have been fired and wouldn't have become the drug abuser/talk host he is now.

For real. Stern is the bees knees

I mean the liberal equivalents are as bad and generally less entertaining.

Both side of the coin are loaded with douches. Some good points in both arenas but that seems to get skipped over in the media.

If the things that were going on in the government during the 1950's and 60's were as evident as the issues we have today, people would be furious. Not even big conspiracies, just the amount of bureaucracy, corruption, sexual and racial harassment, and ass covering that went on was just as bad as today. Ignorance is bliss for them I guess, some people fear being informed.

Same French Bill O'Riley is the man

Bill O'Riley and Rush make me want to punch a baby not because of their ideas but because they think they f#:cking own the world and if it isnt their (exact way), it isnt right. I dont think I have ever heard either of them have a caller that they truely agree with completely. Another thing that bugs me about them is the constent bashing of liberals. They paint a picture that makes them seem as if Obama and all his friends are equivalent to the devel. But in the end I guess all they really are are entertainers.

Most of them are just stoking the coals of their listeners and keeping the ratings as high as possible. It isn't much different than what happens on the left-side of the spectrum, albeit on the radio.

That said, I do enjoy Medved as he typically only wants debate and not necessarily a conservative circle jerk a la Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. Pretty pragmatic, too, even if I disagree a fair amount of the time.

They probably never say the word hate, say how they are so "american", or mention their status. I'm not saying they could not be true, but those are all assumptions that probably came from your parents, other radios, or other people.

Horrible attempt at trolling. Go jump off a very tall cliff.

Yeah and the liberals never say anything negative about the conservatives, nobody hates on fox, nobody hated on bush, etc.

I'm just saying. It's all a fucking game. You hate them, they hate you, neither "side" does shit, and nothing ever changes for the better.

The people who think obama is the devil are retarded, the people who think obama is some kind of savior are retarded, and thank Jebus for $1.50 chicken nuggets at BK so I can continue to go on with my life.

I can't stand watching right-wing TV because he hosts tend to be loudmouth assholes who bring on some leftist fella just to yell louder than them. I also can't stand terribly left leaning media because it comes off as self-righteous and very accusatory. Neither ends of the spectrum are very good with fact checking either.

Really you should pay attention to the most unbiased media possible and draw your own conclusions rather than allowing an extremist to tell you what to think.

Again I really don't lean left, I just don't see why they think hate speech is the best way of getting their message across.

Because have is anger and anger is energy and people get energetic over the hate and anger. It sells that's why.

Probably the dumbest thing I've read on this site. Howard Stern's show is brilliant and always has been.
