Why i hate school but love education

Perhaps he should have stayed in school a little longer. "And" instead of "an", at the end, and "coop-de-grace". Really, man? He also doesn't have much credibility with me because of his "I love Jesus but hate religion" video. This guy is prone to spouting massive fallacies, while trying way too hard to sound profound, and this video is just a continuation of that.

This video has been blowing up on my facebook and I finally decided to put some time in to watching it and it really is this guy being a decent public speaker saying things that he thinks will get a rise out of people.

 
Different guy on the Jesus video, but they're almost certainly affiliated. Still the same sad stuff.

seriously, shut the fuck up. im a peaceful, open minded guy but his argument was so strong and well backed up, you need to rewatch it.
 
I made it past the Mark "Zuckenberg" and his failure on the pronounciation of "coup de grâce". But, once he started quoting the bible, I turned the video off.

What the actual fuck? He's essentially saying you can only build your own dream by never working for somebody else? Give me a break.

You work for someone else so you can make money. Without working for someone else, it's hard as fuck to make decent money. By working for somebody else you're making money. By making money you are leading a sustainable life. You keep on working for other people and eventually, you'll find yourself on top. You're the one hiring others. you're the one building a dream.

So in a nutshell, you start out helping others build their dream THEN you can start on your own. You work your way up.

Everyone starts on the bottom, buddy.

Learning for the sake of learning is a wonderful thing and colleges are the ideal environment for the process. It sounds like this guy wasn't taking the right courses.

I'd also like to say that his examples were bullshit. Everyone's already heard the same argument using the same successful individuals recited time and time again. Take a wider sample of the population. I bet you'll see that most people stand to benefit from a degree.

 
His argument relies purely on anecdotal evidence. If you look at the larger picture, it's quite clear that having an education does pay off in the long run.
 
I've already said this, but not everybody is Steve Jobs,or Micheal Jordan. Also, in the religion one did you notice how he was saying that Christianity isn't a religion?
 
The only thing that video demonstrated is that it is possible for someone to be educated while still being dumb as shit. I don't understand how any rational person can take this shit seriously.
 
Just what we need. A "well constructed" argument for kids to be inspired to not go to school. Because if i drop out I'll be Steve jobs.. Yessss
 
he completely over-simplifies the whole idea of higher education IMO, his fancy language makes him sounds really convincing though, coupled with the fact that he is telling you exactly what you wanna hear.

lets all drop out of school and we will be like malcom x or ghandi for the rest of our lives. sick plan, poet guy
 
i hate this guy, and if you look at the majority of these guys they got lucky off investments or new ideas.
 
Just look at the stats, or wait lets ignore the actual stats and just look at this small group of billionaires! That seems logical! You can be just like them as long as you don't go to college!
 
There will always be people who are too smart to teach all the way through college. This is not the norm and should not be used as an argument against school. However, I do think the current system in the US is far from what it could be in being useful.

Great video. I didn't watch OP's video but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this ones better than OP's.

Also around 8:40-around 10:10 is very sad IMO.
 
That video is a joke. He names 5 or 10 successful people who didn't go to college and think that proves a point? It doesn't. Those people were rarities.

Don't listen to this video kids- You want a good job, you're not going to do it without a degree.
 
He forgets all the people who didnt go to school and live in trailer parks. All in all i think he may have some what of a point. You shouldnt just go to school to please your parents, you shouldnt do anything just to please someone. But education is the key, coupled with hard work. Mostly he justs come off as ranting
 
The biggest thing now is people are getting degree's in unemployment.

People are going to school and getting degrees in liberal arts, fine arts, etc. and there isn't a demand for this type of degree in the job market. Am I saying don't pursue your dreams? Absolutely not, but most of the time that dream job that you want isn't going to come from going to school and doing things you want to do. A lot of times we make sacrifices to be where we want to be.

But more importantly is what schools are doing is creating to gain education, but when it come time to go and get a job after graduation they have all this education which is great, but when an employer wants to hire someone they want someone who has the education AND experience and that were it really hurts a lot people in college is that they don't gain that working experience to help them get their foot in the door when it comes time to get a job.
 
whoever wrote that is a total douchebag but he is right about basically everything in there. doesnt at all answer the question of why that other guy needs math to be a firefighter, and he makes math sound super simple when in reality it can be the most mind-fuckingly insane conceptual shit that you can't even imagine because we aren't smart enough. following a recipe? okay yeah maybe but some of those "recipes" have stumped supercomputers

so basically all i got from that was the fact that almost all technological advancements stem from math. which is not a very hard point to argue. so in summation, that was not the "bestpageintheuniverse". at all. it sucked.
