whats up with the hate for racers?? I personally am not a racer, but i have friends who are. It's pretty stupid that people who say fuck racing, or racings gay, and then go idolize tanner hall, or vincent dorion. I am getting kind of fed up with it, i mean, you may not race, but who cares. Other people do. I have friends that race, but they are also some sick ass newschool skiers.

in that case bluesteeze, how about we take issue with people who invade the park, have no understanding for how to do anything and who dont respect us? racers are the people who make skiing look like its a boring sport..if u tell someone who lives in the south that you ski they automatically think you wear spandex and think you have never touched ur skis with ur hands....if you tell them you snowboard they think ur badass and throw sweet tricks

not really, its the mentality of some not all but some racers, who come into the park thinkin there all better than everyone else with thier new rossi race skis and cut infront of everyone and then pullin a spread eagle or some shit. those are the racers i hate but other than that alot of em are cool

Fuck you, I would much rather ride w/ chill snowboarders than most skiers who are cocky fuckin spoiled rich kids, snowboarders are the reason that newschool even started and 80 percent of snowboarders I meet are much more cool than skiers

 
headskier i went down south and people were like what are all your shirts and i would tell them, they make skis, and they were like oh... ok. and then they start talkin about how cool boarding is, so i sent them a few vids and they never even imagined skiing being like that.

ya im in texas right now...i live in ny ..but the kids here dont know that u can grind rails with skis....at texas A&M college there about 100 rails that are perfect.... amazing rails like 40ft kink s rails and i was telling some kids how cool it would b to get some snow to ski on the rails and they thought i was talking about skiing down the sidewalk and down stairs

all the racers on my mt. are spoiled lil rich kids who are snotty and anoying. i've got tons of friends who are ex-racers and rip and i have newschool friends who are good. i don't like racers cuz they don't like us. at our mt. all they do is critizie, snake, and both us. perfect example: i'm standing at the top of the pipe waiting to go and i get snaked by this racer (wearing their spandex) then all of these like 7 year old nancy greeners follow them and my coach is freakin' and this racer coach dude says 'who cares freestyle isn't a really sport' so ya in my conculsion: i'm not a fan of racers

i race for my high school, i dont like some racers because they think that theyre better than everyone else. for example on my high school team a lot of them make fun of me because i am a freerider. of course snowboarders are gonna be like that to skiers and skiers to snowboarders etc etc... i do know some racers that are huck in the park but they have no style, its because they arent scared to try shit. i dont think that we should be dissin others in our same sport. i mean we're all skiers right?

jon olssen still does one race a year, hes racing at the end of 1242 i think it is, i used to race, and racing gets u to be a good skier, as for invading the park wa tthe hell are u talkinga bout, invading the park, are tourist who cant ski for shit, i saw a guy break his arm on the box, a lot of racers can do freeride also, its the tourist that invaide the park and sit on the jumps and stuff

last year I told som1 to stop takin the jump sideway because he was snowplowing the side and it was melting and it was doiing like a 6 inche deep track in the middle of the jump

and he went to see the patrol and the patrol told me to let the tourist destroy the park

yeah my probem if you want to call it that with racers is that they do come in the park in a group of like 10-20 people and can't even hit the features so they just tuck into some jumps and when they get close they speed check a ton and suck up the jump. But my real problem lies with racing cuz it encourages you to follow the crowd. yes it teaches you te get better but it says heres the only way down the mountain and that you must go the same way everyone else goes. See for me the best part of skiing is being able to go where no one else has. even if its just ducking into some tree while finishing a run and trying something new everytime. so that why i don't like racing / racers

i hate most skiers, racer or not, and most of the kids on newschoolers. Anyone that has remote talent at skiing thinks they are king shit. I ride with snowboarders all the time and it is much more fun. It is laid back and no one hates.

 
yeah, racers dont respect other people in the park. I have seen racers cut everybody off to throw huge mute grabs off tables way too many times.

It is a authenticates foolishness and the freestylers that say these they usually are not the clever neither the best. Each one is free of choosing the sport or modality that wants for the reasons that wants.

Also some respect for the racer because maybe the slalom and the giant seems even boring (giant is not it) but to be descent racer or of super-g it is necessary to have some huge balls that many of the big mouths don't have.

I think that a good skier should be complete because if it is not as being a springboard jumper.

I don't know what racers you guys met, but all the ones I know are chill. It's called mutual respect. Respect gets respect. And as for them invading the park.......This year at Okemo the only people I saw regularly using some of the biggest features of the park were racers. Not to mention in most cases if you went side to side with a trained skiercross racer, he would tear you to pieces. I've seen skiercross racers run the course that morning, then 270 onto a S-rail that afternoon.

i was talking with bibby at the top of the pipe at camp and he pretty much nailed the concept......he said as long as theyre not destroying our features, its good that theyre trying to ride pipe and stuff.....it means there might be hope that they wont all be gay for their whole life

I'm not even a racer, I'm a pure big mountain skier. I'm not even a freestyler although I try and am learning so that I can pull that shit off cliffs because it looks sick. Whatever happend to the essence of skiing?

I didnt read any of the posts above, but, I think many times people make fun of racers even if they dont care. Personally, i dont mind races, but it can be really fun to make fun of some of them sometimes. Some are cool, some are dicks, jsut like in freeskiing.

i have a friend who is a racer. he tried sum freestle on his skis this year and did good. haha, he did a 1 wit hno twins. i think him doing racing makes him able to get speed to a jump since he knows what he has to do
