Why edits are more fun to watch than a full length movie

Don't you agree with me?

Pretty much all of my favorite ski related film moments are straight out of an edit.

Edits are more uptempo and they're almost always filmed in a public park, which makes me think, i could do that to! (even though i most of the time can't) But it makes me stoked to go ski!

The movies on the other hand are always packed with riddicoluosly large jumps, sunsets, helis and slow motion. I mean wtf, I'm never going to be throwing doubles on a 90 fot jump, and I'm definately never going to have a heli shooting it, and sunsets? how often do normal people ski in the sunset? I't super impressive, and it looks awsome. But does it make me wanna ski? NO!

Ski movies need to be more like edits. Fun, skiing is fun! Like FUCK!, looks fun, and i feel ghood, also fun!

I personally enjoy edits in the offseason but I'll want to watch movies before skiing and afterwards to get the stoke factor up. I mean, the vast majority of us will never get to hit the features that the pros are hitting at MSP heli shoots or TGR Alaska lines. That's why it's so awesome though, the features are ridiculously big and/or gnarly, which just makes the jaw drop.

Edits on the other hand are dope because they are short and to the point. There isn't much room for filler, it's all skiing and a few lifestyle shots to transition. They can be fast paced because they are meant to pack a lot of footage into a short period of time. Plus, the skiers on there normally hit stuff just like we do, which is dope.

There's a time and place for both.

It's a matter of attention span too. Most web edits are quick, current, and accessible (while also usually relevant to what most skiers are doing). But full length movies have there place, a well made film obviously is meant for a different venue (like a premier) and usually have a more lasting shelf life compared to a blip on the intermanet feed

^ spot on.

Look at crews like Nimbus though. You could go out and do everything they are doing if you wanted to. They might go hit the super park jump at Mammoth, but other than that, you could easily hike/sled out into the BC and build a kicker or ski that same line.
