Why don't more girls ski newschool?

sorry if you misunderstood me. I do not mind women sharing the mountain with woman but i just perfer not to ski with a woman that I am interested in sharing a bed with.

Yeah cause then they see the real side of you, and might see you with your game face off, making it more difficult to get them into bed.

snowboarding is just a trend for new people to the sport i guess and/or they think of skiing as just raceing and nothing else.

I wish more did, but the sport still looks at them as not a whole lot more than sex symbols, so I understand why they wouldn't want to.

agreed!^ i get ridiculously nervous any time i approach something new. also, eating shit in front of a bunch of people (aka, public humiliation) is not everyone's idea of a good time, and it seems that a lot of parks are underneath lifts. i don't know if that has any direct correlation to the lack of girls on the newschool scene, but generally speaking intimidation is probably a factor.

i don't really think its any different than skateboarding/bmx...its not like you see a ton of girls doing those sports either...

personally i don't care if i fall in front of people. i would rather try something new and fall then go around a feature (which is more embarressing to me). of course i wish there were more girls in the sport.. but i enjoy skiing with guys. i have a good group of friends who push me and support me and that's all i need. i ski for myself and i think everyone else should do the same.

haha you tell me... i ski park city where everyone is like a pro if not close to being a pro even 11 yr olds, i dont care about falling since everyone falls pretty much but falling on easy stuff like a flat box hahahha i get intimidated when like crews go theyre all super good like 4bi9 ski pc a lot n stuff then i go and feel like i havent progressed at all... im looking forward to getting better and coming back to my mtn next season stronger than ever.

Having a girl who rips is the best thing ever. Every vacation you take can be to mountains. You can share so many awesome experiences together. It is super great. I wont date a girl unless she skis/snowboards.

I know a couple of hungarian girls absolutly slaying it.

all snowboarders though...

I guess here in middle/eastern europe newschool is hardly a topic.

Most people, even the young ones, have never seen twintips in there whole life.

snowboarders (in general) don't think skiing is cool. I have guy friends who snowboard and they're like, Emma where's your snowboard, that's not cool, and they'll pop out my bindings and stuff like that. haha

I used to snowboard but before that (when I was a teenager) I thought skiing was awesome, and I wanted to learn to ski. I started snowboarding though, admittedly.

In Belgium there's only one true freeski chick, and she has been competing with the guys for years now. Her name is Katrien Aerts and for someone living in a country that has no mountains I think you can say she kills it! She was one of the only girls not to be dissed by Symms in the US open slopestyle where she took 4th.

4:12 p.m. Uh oh, Kim. Some girl with a name I’m not going to try to

spell just spun more than 360 on one of the jumps, and she slid the

down-flat-down rail.

4:14 p.m. Kim’s safe. Aerts is into 3rd. That’s legit. She had a

legit run.

Just shows that not all girls are afraid to shredd!

I still can't figure this out. I have about 2 girlfriends who ski and one is a former racer so she sticks to groomers and the other rips, if you can get her away from her boyfriend from the day. Granted, I moved from CA/HI to the mountains 2 and a half years ago, but still.

I wish I could find more girls so ski with. Don't get me wrong, skiing with guys is great, but it would be nice to have a pack of girls around so we could all encourage and push eachother. WHen I'm in the park with guys, i feel like i'm being pushed to catch up, not to actually learn. In a way thats good but it can get really frustrating.

Now, because of doctors orders/my hill doesn't even have a park, I spend a majority of my time not in the park but learning shit in the backcountry and where ever else I can. And because most of my guy friends are in the park, I ski alone a lot of the time.

So yeah, if you figure that out, let me know.

apparently you guys havent been to tahoe haha

we have got plenty of girl skiers and we are all working on getting even better.

But not all girls are into the whole painting nails and going shopping...

my friends and i would much rather ski than anything else.

i've gotta say, from my observation girls on twintips are generally very hot... i would love to see more on my hill

well now theres one more girl in hooked on the sport. My little sister learned to slide rails and do 180s and 3s today. Finally shez putting those fancy twin tips to use.

I think she was kidding, I mean what skier would rather watch tv instead of ski?

except for the show Lost that is

it has definetly blown up for girls over the last few years. Back 6 years ago in my freestyle club there was 1 girl. Now I go up and see a whole bunch girls I don't even know in the club.

I think a fair amount of these comments are kinda ridiculous...I am a girl therefore occasionally i like girlie stuff like going shopping or getting dressed up or even maybe painting my nails in bright pink...does not for any second mean i don't love to ski.

I suppose with the whole newschool thing its been mainly male dominated, but girls are breaking through at a considerable rate....myself and several of my close female friends love hitting the park..from what i have found is that i only get respect from guys for trying, even if i crash 80% of the time.

I guess what i'm trying to say is just because we may be girls, wear dresses and produce babies doesn't mean we haven't got balls, or aren't up for trying something new....so boys how about some encouragement rather than the chauvinistic comments...and maybe just maybe you'll start seeing more girls in the park!!

thank you rant over......

you are overlooking the hormonal and chmical differences between the male brain and the female brain. Males produce testosterone, which gets us hyphy, ballsy, and ready to fuck. Women, on the other hand, produce estrogen primarily, which makes them little pansy biatches most of the time.

That was stereotypical I know, but these hormonal differences contribute to the fact that women are up to 7 times more anxious than men. That is a fuck load dropping into a super pipe or a burly table.

this is the kind of responce i was looking for. not some junk on physical anatomy differences. balls don't give you heart.

i mean if i was a girl im pretty sure I wouldn't be spinning onto metal railing and such... i would probably be content skiing groomers, hot tubbing , drinking vodka and redbull at night

I don’t know if I’m the only girl who thinks this or not, but personally, I kinda like that there’s not as many girl skiers. Don’t get me wrong, I love skiing with girls and being able to push each other and having the camaraderie that’s different from the guys, but frankly, if as many girls skied as snowboarded, there would be a lot of stupid floozies getting in the way and trying to hit on guys instead of hitting a rail. It takes a certain kind of girl to be a skier, and I’m happy to say that I don’t know very many girls skiers who aren’t really cool people.

i think girls would try more stuff on rails cause they wouldn't have to wory about hitting their balls on rails (cause they don't have any) that shit hurts

yea you should dump her until she starts to ski.....yea but i agree. i think they may think skiing isnt the coooool thing to do, becasue it seems like so many younger kids are favoring snowboarding as the choice to start out on the snow. they dont see the more hip side of skiing, especially from the girls side of it all.
