After reading several articles it has come to my attention that alot of people ski for all the wrong reasons and just ski to be different then the next average joe......i want to know why u ski and who u ski for. who u represent and why u started skiing in the first place. drop a line to this thread please and thank-you. i hope this will further my knowledge on why people say/do there own things and why people ski.......

i personally ahve nothing major against snowboarders with the exception of a few fucking idiots at my local hill and i also wouldnt mind hearing what ur take on snowboarding compared to skiing is,thanks...

i'm a winter person, and i've skied since i was little, so i guess my parents got me into it. i like the people, i like the feeling of throwing down huge tricks... i guess it's a risk thing. people like to take risks and when you succeed, you feel pretty darn fantastic.

its all about the mountains. gettin away from the city. its peaceful ya know? its a release. the speed. the feeling of droppin of a cliff. man the list could just go on forever.

don't worry why others ski. do it for yourself. there are always goin to be posers out there. use them to your advantage if you have to.

i ski just for fun. Its so fantastic to ride a perfect park with your friends. I started skiing about 5years ago and i started with snowblades

 
Now I ski for the flow. FLOW is what it's all about. I've never felt it in anything else, not surfing, not climbing, not skating...for me it's in skiing.

When I started, it was just to get me to the base of ice climbs, but I found out I liked it.

i got into skiing from the age of 4, just a typical thing to do when you live in france pretty close to the alps. then i skiied to have fun with my dad on the snow. i was a little daredevil, just going flat out in a snow plow.

then i met a very bad ski teacher, who penalised me because at 6, i wasn't very strong minded, and i cried alot when he did his usual yelling, the whole french negative reinforcement thing. skiing was less from then on.

i then skiied by obligation, because during winter vacation, thats what you do.

then i moved to annecy, the center of the skiing wonderland that is the haute savoie alpes. there, i went through a fase of rediscovering skiing through the newest fun thing: snowblades.

i was having fun again. this is why i wanted to ski: to have fun, and not kiss up to some loser paid to teach kids how to ski, not for them, but for his own ego.

then i tore a ligament in my knee. i think this break helped me appreciate what it was that i was doing, and not focus on the slope, but on the beautiful and magnificent scenery that God gave me in Annecy, and yes, i thanked him for the snow.

after recovering, i came back to "regular" skiing, and i started doing my own thing again, back to the fun.

i ski for fun, because there is this feeling of accomplishement when you land new things, because of the sensation of liberty going fast down a slope, for the times you can spend with your friends, and for the exclamation mark it puts in your life: you are alive.

i also ski for myself. others opinions are good to have, but ultimately, i need only ski for me. do what i want to do. have fun the way i want to. thats why we ski. no rules, just what you want, when you want, however you want.

that is why i ski and i thank God for giving me this world to have fun in.

Well I was pondering this last night for a bit after a run in with a kid at the park yesterday, so my whole ski crew was out in full force throwin down yesterday. A kid skied up and asked us if we were sponsored, he wasnt a texan or anything he was a 13-14 year old kid with matching gear and all that shit so I assumed he wanted to be, I thought to myself why would you ski to get sponsored?

Skiing in order to get a discount on ski gear seems very counter-productive, you could save yourself both time and money by just not skiing at all.

We pay our debt sometimes.
 
Its so fun, nothing else compares, i went to snowboarding for like 2 years and came back because skiing is so much funner. fun and progression are the best.

 
its like getting high, you temporarly forget about the other stressfull stuff that you have to deal with in normal life, and you get to throw down and feel good landing tricks and being out there with friends and get away from the city

Skiing is pure freedom. You are not confined by sidelines, goal, referees, and rules as in other sports. The only llimitations to sking are the laws of gravity and physics, and your abilites. You are free to do what you want when you want. You are free from your problems in the real world and you can get away from them while your skiing. Skiing became prob the best theing that ever came to my life, and it change my life dramatically. I began skiing 4 years ago with a group, and I loved it since the first time. I ski more and more each year and I get better. that's about it. I don't mid snowboarding unless they are arrogant who think skiing looks gay and they are mean.

Imagine the ns outcry if u(lateralis) were banned. There would be countless threads and petitions to bring u back, it would be like when treadway got banned from whistler. Someone would probably make and sell 'Free Lateralis' stickers and shit. -j
 
the fresh outdoors man. when you get off a chairlift at the top of a 9,ooo ft mountain, its awesome. At bachelor you look off the backside, and all you see is trees, forrest, wildlife. No cities, no murder, no rape. Its fuel to keep going. Theres nothing like finally hittin that big side tho. Ski for life

 
Most of all its fun. It's an adrenaline rush for me trying new things off jumps bigger than I've ever tried. I like adrenaline rush's!!

i started skiing when i was about 10 and every winter since i have just went bigger and bigger...ive never really questioned why i ski..i just do..and its the best feeling i ever get when i strap into my bindings at a new mountain...its just so fun cause u r ur own coach...i play team sports where u have to listen to what the coach says and stuff but when u strap on a pair of skis u hit what ever rail u want when u want...and i have even started to hate summer just cause i cant ski...well thats all i have to say about y i ski...

i ski for the feeling i get when im on my way to the hill with my radio up, my window down and my hand riding in the wind.

i ski for the feeling i get when i get to the top of a lift and see the view.

and above all, i ski for the feeling i get when im on the patio of the lodge after a days worth of skiing, with a beer in my hand, and i look up at the mountain, recognize how massive it is, and realize that i just anihilated ever square inch of it.

i've been into skiing my whole life during the peroid when snowboarding got big i wanted to ski in the park because everyone wanted to become a snowboarder. i stayed with skiing and always will. Skiing is now getting bigger every year you can just tell cause on the mountain there are more skiers in the park every year.

i ski cause its fuckin fun. its so awsome to be in the bc or in the woods in fresh pow and just look around ang you get that cool feeling that your like one with nature and shit and u forget about everything and you just ski.

its not like lots of sports where some days u dread going to practice... u never dont wanna go.. its an amazing release.. from everything..
