Why do people wear what the pros are wearing???

Cause if they wouldnt do so companies wouldnt have any reason to sponsors the athletes.

if nobody buy the stuff after seeing them wearing it, then it's useless to pay them to wear it.

it's true. i still find it funny when i see the kid in the park who wears EXACTLY to the tee what dumont wore last season, though.

i believe its because lots of people look up to professionals and ultimately want to be like them. and people who are sponsored are pretty much a walking billboard for the company they are representing, usually next years stuff. kids see their idols wearing something fresh and imitate.

I actually don't see that many people wearing exactly what the pros are (I ski at mt hood), and who cares even if they do

because in general pros are wearing nice stuff?

I am going to buy a pair of Oakley, Anon or Smith goggles over some random brand because they work better.

I am going to buy Burton, Oakley, or Orage stuff because I like the way it looks and is better quality often times than brands I have to go searching for that I have never heard of. I think your question is more self-explanatory than you think.

emulation, association (people see tanner wear white/light blue, then when people see other guy in white/blue, they think "good skier" or some bs) and just lack of creativity, or something like that.

ya like the red jacket and ozone over the top pants i had that picked out right when i saw the two and then sammy wore it and i was all mad but i still think its sick. its just that the pros wear sick stuff, people arent in love with the pros they just think they look cool

Other than Oakley and Burton, I don't see it very much. It's super obvious with Oakley of course since everyone wants to same colourway that T-Hall or Simon wears.

yah I'm getting that salomon set up next year, the orange an white one? think it was gagniers. its just so sick

hey totally is on to something, i mean remember way back when the three phils all rode for pheonix? i never knew which one was which.

um did you guys read? It is a thread making fun of other threads, providing an answer. Read it.

it's pretty funny how many people jump on the defense without reading it.

french canadian sooo dumb.... if i didn't see the pros riding rockerd skiss i would never rocker out my line chronics at adstock.....simple as that

i think it was the guy who was also arrested for making fake id's

and, uh, ced, what if no one bought moment skis? obviously, that wouldn't happen... but still? then it'd be pointless spanzxcerizsczsing you (did i spell that right?)

if you see some kid with the gayest suit, hes more likely than not a shitty skier, at least at my resort. and when i wear balla clothes, it makes me wanna throw down more.

"i get through my run because everytime before i hit the jumps, i say to myself, im so cool." meg o.

oakley is down to like three color ways. its getting sad. the line looks so weak next year.

and be that as it may, its the same reason kids buy things their friends have, to fit in

yea I knew you were just trying to look like andy mahre in tyour orage outerwear and fullt ilts boot...

NOT.

go do some blindside 450out that look twice as good as mine... i hate you matt...

gonna send those japanese killer monkeys to ohio to hunt your ass down.

I've already got my gear picked out for the season this year in Aus, dark grey quicksilver jacket that i got near the end of last year and fluro/lime green pants...it's gonna be awesome if i can find the pants lol

but yeh pros wear cool gear that works, so why not wear some of the stuff that they are? Take Seth Morrison for example, he doesn't get sponsered by Full Tilt but still wears the boots becasue they work ad the quality is legit.

Summary: You wear gear that works and what the pros are wearing seems to work quite well

can anyone apart from candide wear the quiksilver candide thovex pro model jacket? they all look like chumps when they fall over the green kickers.

there is a kid that wears the oakly green one piece that dumont wore, and to top it off, has the same skis that dumont rocked that year (red, white and blue foils), and a HUGE red bull sticker on the side of his helmet.

it makes sense. if you ski for a profession it is what you do and possibly all you do. If you place a high standard on how you live work and perform then you place that same high standard on the quality and function of your gear.

in any sport or industry a wise consumer will look to the professionals/experienced for advice or knowledge.

good companies exist with the idea of building the best gear to satisfy the needs of the best athletes or "pros".

the notion is if you can satisfy the best you can provide a sick product for the rest.

this is why i support compamies like armada, saga...

buy a hunting suit at walmart and spend the extra money you saved on an extra pair opf skis, maybe new bindings, a trip to alaska.. or vegas
