Why is it that every young jibber seems to rock the bandanna over their faces, even in the summer? Doesn't the cotton get all wet and nasty from breathing in it, and the face get all sweaty and nasty in the summer?

And when did an upper-class sport like skiing become so GANGSTA?

thoughts?

i wear a bandanna over my face in the winter,, party to keep my face warm and partly cause its a ns bandanna and nobody has them

cause somedays i dont want my face to bake all day at 10000 feet.. ? i usually forget sunscreen

i tryed the bandana thing but it was too much work to keep it over my face and it got all smelly from breathing in it for 8 hours

i rock a gator. wayyy warmer, and in the fucking harsh ass wind at the springs, i need that thing. bandanas dont cut it there not for me anyways.

sun burns. last year at hood kids were getting 2nd degree burns on their face cause they had no sun protection.

I wear something on my face on those really cold days. I prefer a facewarmer though, it's warmer easier

wh....what?

bandanas are gangster?

Yeah I kinda always liked the goggle tan look on guys.

And a lot of people who where them at my resort

are usually the kids who don't know how to ride.

But hey you do what ya do!

idk usually its just to show off how steezy you are. if you have a nice one, its cool, but if you just have a gay ass red or blue one its retarded.

nothing beats my orange jagermeister one. thug central.

I think its ok if its cold out, I do it, but the thing that sucks is that the mositure from my breath freezes on the bandana/facewarmer, which sucks alot. But if I see people with bandanas on warm days I automatically think that thier retarded.

I just go out on my deck during the summer, slap my goggles on and tan. Thats the steeze right there.

It's just a look, why do people wear leg bags? Why do we have baggy cloths? Why do we have cool looking goggles and cool looking helmets? Its all about the look, and most people have their own. I think that bandannas add a lot, and look quite steezy time to time (reference matt walker in the west coast session video).

the same reason i feel no need for a bandana. i only cover my face when im riding the snomo....that can get really cold without proper coverage...

I never cover my face with a bandana. I use like, a neck warmer thing to pull up to my face, and thats only if its really really really cold and windy and hard snowy

cuz it's only the cooooest, but yes windburn in the winter is a biotch and up on the glacier my nose gets all burnt and peelin and shit so i like the bandana to keep it fresh for the ladies

I've never completed an entire day of skiing with anything covering my face. In the winter/pow it gets all moist and hard to breath through, and sometimes the air comes back up into your goggs and can fog them. In the summer..... well, I don't see hiking in 70 degree weather with a piece of cloth over your face very appealing. Especially when you can rip some good 'ol Hawaiian Tropic waterproof SPF 50. Just as good sun protection, but no bullshit.

I wear one, but never over my face, just loose around my neck to keep the wind off my neck. Ive rarely gotten a cold face, even in Northern Ontario Temperatures.

i rarely get out for summer skiing, living in indiana.

in the winter its mandatory, i find it keeps my face warmer, i dont get windburn, and it dont get snow all up in my grill

i tried bandanas acouple times

it gets wet and then freezes and ruins my goggle tan

bandanas+skiing=no

i usually wear it for show, the ryan lichtenberg memorial bandanima.

however i wore one this summer, because i was on a medication that basically means that in one hour i will get as tan as a normal person would in six hours.

i wore it about 75 percent of the time, and still ended up looking like this

I don't really feel the need to be a gangster, but a neck warmer is really annoying to carry around in your pocket or on your neck because of the bulk. Cotton is the worst winter material ever, and regular bandannas freeze with perspiration and then only make things worse.

So I improvised.

First, I got a rad polka dot print, and cut out a big triangle.

Then, I copied the size onto some fleece, and then used my mother's sewing machine to sew them together.

Then, I put a butterfly button on the back and sewed in a button hole, to make it so I didn't have to tie a bulky knot.

I then sprayed the front with Nikwax waterproofing, and had the best bandanna ever.

A t-shirt gives you an SPF of 7 or 8 depending on the color. I can't imagine a bandana would be much better.

Sunscreen for summer skiing.

except that you have to buy the bandanna...

I wear them from time to time, especially when its blowing ice, I don't burn though so don't need em when its sunny
