i kinda feel sorry for him. a lot of people have built him up to be some sort of saviour, like he's going to save America from all it's fallen into, not just in the past eight years but long before that, like he's going to just suddenly pull Americans out of every mess they've gotten into, make them all rich and happy, maybe introduce flying cars that run on happiness, etc.
but he isn't. i don't doubt that he could do a lot of good stuff for America, but he isn't going to do it all instantaneously, and he isn't going to start with with singing rainbows and flying pigs. but for some strange reason, there was this obsession with him and the words "hope" and "change." even the haters picked those words out, as if no politician in the history of the earth had ever uttered them before. after what Bush did, how could a politician NOT say he was going to change things? you wouldn't get elected if you walked up onstage and told everybody that your best friend is George Bush and you're going to keep everything he was doing the same.
the people have built up Obama to be some sort of heaven-sent being, and though he may do good, i don't think he's ever going to be the president that so many expect him to be. and it's not his fault really, it's not as if he ever said he was going to fix everything that's wrong with America today. some people just heard the word "change" and assumed that meant he was going to change everything.
i don't doubt that he could be a great president, and i don't doubt that he could be a terrible one. what i do doubt, is that he's going to live up to the ridiculous expectations that so many people have given him. even FOX news recognizes this, and they've acted on it by saying that HE thinks HE is the messiah, when he's never even promised half of it, because they know that the more people believe he is going to be the best president ever, the more people are likely to be disappointed with him when he isn't, and the more people are going to O'Reilly call black people the scum of the earth.
so if you want to ask me what i think of Obama, you can ask me in four years, or at least two, because i don't know the man, and i can't see the future. all i can see are the possibilities.
