Its pretty annoying. I am a barista there and 14-16 year old girls are constantly asking me to make special designs in whip or drizzle etc. onto their drinks so they can take pictures of them and subsequently post them to FB or instagram. I don't really get it - its not like they went to a special restaurant and ordered some really nice food or had a friend surprise them with a special treat.
Haha I absolutely know what you mean. Always amazes me what people expect from baristas. The harsh reality is that they're paying $5 for drinks at a fast food restaurant lol.
I made a heart in a latte today though, I was stoked.
Well my young Padiwan here's lesson one: kindness goes a long way, no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Nice guys finish last, but win the championship.
I was waiting for somebody to proffer this suggestion. all great baristas have mastered the art of making anatomically proportianate latte patterned dicks. You could always just get creative with the caramel sauce on the caramel "macchiatos" (siderant/ what is sold as a macchiato in sub-par coffee shops is an ultimate bastardisation on the original which is a single espresso shot with a drop of milk usually marked by the use of a little foam) see photo below of caramel sauce "art" from costa employee who knows his job as a "barista" is a joke.
I know a little place near by my home that draws a fat veiny & hairy cock on your foam if you order anything with an abundant amount of milk after 11:00.
word, being a barista is probably the easiest job in the world. i used to work at a multiple-award winning cafe/bistro and i was so jealous of the baristas (i was a cook). hell, i would draw stuff on people's coffees just out of boredom if i had that job.
