Why can't skiers...

i think skiers could do practically all of that except for a few that you would have to 50-50 and what not

with one ski 50/50s (nuggets) coming in and urban wallrides and just more creative urban areas in general in the past two seasons of movies, skiing is really closing the gap
 
i've grinded a fence at a rail jam and chowen and shea slayed one in bouler
cam would do it

yea there defiantly were some shots that would be hard for skiers, such as the wooden handrail launch, but everything you listed is possible for skiers to do. Try not to sound like an idiot when you have an orange name. Its unprofessional.
 
Because it's a shit ton harder to control a board on each foot than 1 board with 2 feet. Snowboarders can do more skate style tricks and features. They can't pretzel though. They have more control in some ways, Less in others. I think it's sick what they do but personally, i'd rather be able to switch the direction you're spinning on a box or rail than be able to stall on a sketchy fence.

 
while i agree that skiers could do almost all of that, the real issue is why don't skiers get as creative as snowboarders with urban, im so tired for seeing rail after rail after rail, with a few wall rides thrown in. watch a FODT movie and then you will see what im talking about
 
Couldn't find any examples of a snowboarder pretzeling in that video, but I know it's been done before, someone does it in the hoodrat snowboarding thread
 
to be honest i suck at rails and couldnt ever do anything like what i see in the edits the kids post up here.

but besides the rails i could do any of those tricks on skis

Not going to lie, but even though Eye Trip and Forum Snowboard's 'Fuck It' had the same urban features in, I much prefered the snowboard movie. SO much more creative with their urban, plus all the movies have such a good vibe to them as well.
 
what the hell? people trashing skiers on a ski website? and ya skier do "shred the streets" urbans would be considered streets so i dont know what youre talking about. ya it was a cool video but i think that skiers could do more with it and make it steezier
 
the entire vid was sick for sure. Personally I think skiers could easily make as good a video. What I think made it awesome instead of just good was the feel of the vid and the music selection. It was fun to watch and light - instead of heavy and people all up in the camera. Skynard, such a great choice
 
Dude your a dummy. There wasn't one shot in there that I didn't think skiers could do spesh at the pro level (obviously not the exact tricks because somethings are more possible on a board and others on skis), but I'm willing to bet that good ams could hit all of that shit. Just because you can't doesn't mean it's not doable, just means you left your balls in your purse.

Going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on that one. Maybe not the chain link fence, but its pretty retarded to assume that just because its not often done on skis thats its not possible. Sure it'd be scary as fuck, but not any less scary than on a snowboard. Nice ironic beard btw.

sorry that my opinion on some features in an edit is upsetting you so much.

i know alot of skiers that watch snowboard movies for inspiration and sheer entertainment. I'm not sure you could say the same if you talked to a bunch of pro snowboarders.. or any level snowboarders for that matter. there is a reason for this. snowboarding is cool.

for now, we are still a step behind in some aspects. i know there are skiers in the game that can change that, and i hope by all means that they do.
 
I'm Sorry, but what your saying is retarded. Sliding a chain link fence in the way done here is clearly not very fucking possible on skis.

A lot of the shit in there is possible, but Paul's right. Skiing in this way is a step behind snowboarding, and there's no doubt about it. There is much crazier ass shit being done by snowboarders that most skiers would not even consider doing, w/ the exception of maybe Cam.
 
Skiing has grown a lot though. There are lots of tricks that can be done on skis, that can't be done on a board. I think overall in the urban environment, snowboards fit a little better.

Right now snowboarding still has the leg up, but there are plenty of ski crews pushing the sport and doing stuff that wasn't possible before
 
I know all the shit in eye trip was crazy crazy but a lot of snowboarders definitely have a more creative eye i feel like. These boarders charge going fast and dropping 2 story buildings to flat. I rarely see stuff like that in most ski edits. So damn fearless
