Why are some pro's dicks?

There are a load of threads on here saying people like Dumont are dicks. All experiences i have had meeting pros have been great! Am i the only one?
 
anyone who grows up with everyone riding their dick because they are great at something has a higher chance of being a chode
 
Has anybody managed to meet Wallisch? Everybody knows who he is... but he seems more down to earth than Dumont. Met Jossi Wells he was a dick too hahah
 
last year simon dumont yelled at me cause i got to close to his torn acl. dont really blame him but all i was doing was trying to get around him and in to the food court
 
I think in Simon's case it's because he has been spoon fed his whole life and comes from an affluent family. This isn't even a skiing only thing, you can see it everywhere.
 
I've met Wallisch, he's really cool, and wasn't in a rush to end the conversation at all. He joked around a little and was a pretty chill guy. Nick Goepper was also at the event but I didn't have a chance to meet him.
 
Because it's a website where one can hide behind their profile, and we get marginal insight into their personal shit. It's like people being dicks on youtube.
 
There's plenty of assholes in every area of life. Obviously there's going to be a couple pro skiers that are dicks. From my experience, most of them are nice down to earth guys any way.
 
All the pros I've met seem pretty chill. But its understandable how wannabe gangster 12 year olds asking for autographs could get irritating.

Several things. One, though this may seem initially astonishing, pros are people. Some people are dicks. As such it is all but inevitable that some pros are in fact dicks. That said, most of the pros I've met are incredibly down to earth and friendly, they may just not always be in the mood to be harassed because again they are but people and it is not difficult to imagine that they might sometimes like to go about doing whatever they are doing without said harassment. I do not wish to imply that there are no pros who are dicks but I would like to caution that deciding they are dicks based on one encounter with them that might not be at a great time for them is pretty damned unfair.
 
I've met a bunch of pros and the ones that stand out are parker white, chris benchetler, ahmet dadali, and tanner hall. Each one of them has been really cool and fun to talk to. Bobby brown on the other hand...
 
dane tudor(i guess?), matt walker(i guess?) and nick martini(i guess?)

OnT. Håtveit is the king of being chill and happy, at least when I've met him. Phil is also really nice.

And Dumont is such a crybaby, saw him at KoS some year ago and he had like tears in his eyes after he landed a little bit sketchy. When i saw that i was like wtf? what a little bitch, just be like wallisch and laugh it of xd

Yeah Man! The time I met Ron and Geoffrey on the lift , they were mega chill, but I once skied with David and Pete and they were being douches! Just dont understand why? I guess its coz all the kids harass them all day! but that is what they are paid for right?
 
Because little kids annoy the fuck out of them. I'm surprised Wallisch isn't a dick, you ever see the fucking comments on his instagram? shit like "Tom can I have a Jiberish hoodie?" or "Tom it would be a great Christmas present if you replied to me" . I would be so fucking annoyed if I were him
 
I've spoken to Jon a couple times and though he was pretty concentrated on the comp he still managed to crack a smile and chat.

Jacob Wester, Henrik & Oscar Harlaut, Gus Kenworthy and Jossi Wells are also super nice guys. Especially Jacob, I was chatting to him and he just wanted to enjoy himself!
 
a lot of people who base their views on a pro off of one encounter that they had don't realize that pros are just normal people like the rest of us. sometimes we have bad days and do/say things we don't really mean. god forbid a pro does it.

that being said, i'm sure there are some dickish pros out there. never met any tho. TC crew was really nice when i met them in '10
 
If a pro freeskier is a dick just laugh it off. The reality is they are only known in a niche segment of skiing. They are not really famous for the most part.

I used to travel the national circuits playing paintball and ran in to the same thing. I just laughed it off because I knew once the stepped off wherever they were playing that no one knew, or gave a fuck who they were.
 
They get hounded by people they don't even known on all the social networking sites. It doesn't surprise me a pro has had a bad day or two.
 
they're just regular people who happen to be a lot better at skiing than you or me. i've known tom for a while and he's a pretty stand-up dude. i've had encounters with other people who were less hospitable but just like any regular person, they could just be having a bad day. you don't know if their girlfriend just broke up with them, or if their dad is in the hospital, etc. everybody has a bad day once in a while and they're entitled to be a little grumpy from time to time.
