Why are so many of my fellow east coasters retarded. (rant)

I dont understand how jay always has all this deep sick snow in their pics, but when I get there its always tracked out! I have bad timing, I guess. I would say that the snowfall stat is a bit misleading as to how good the winter has been as we have gotten a whole shitload of rain this winter.

im extremely fed up with east coast skiers complaining. move to wisconsin. even here in WI its not that bd at least I dont live in texas without snow.

ya okemo was pretty bad this year...but you know guys..it dont matter..cause there is always next year!!!

East coast skiing just means that you have to make the most out of whatever conditions you get. I had a fucking grand time skiing in slush and puddles at Mountain Creek after 3 powder days at Whistler...

I'm going to Tuckerman's next weekend and I heard a little rumor about a winter storm warning... winter is not over yet!

im having fun this season...my frist day was oct 31 and its april and im sitll skiing!!! i was at loon sunday and no one was there...it was awesome...if people wanna think its a bad winter, and it wasnt the greatest, and it keeps them off the mountians and away from me while im skiing then let them think whatever they want!!! less lines for me to wait in!

i think there was something in Schooled where they said that the east coast makes you work harder to find sick stuff or something like that. i think it's right where somebody drops off the roof.

anyway it's soo true. it's not that the east coast sucks, it's just different. east coast, i'd be happy with a nice little 8 inch storm. i'm living out in mammoth this year and it is freaking ridiculous. it's like a few feet every other week or so. it's just totally different out here

I live in Nova Scotia. We typically get more snow than the north eastern states with some exceptions of course. However, its very common for there to be two or so big rain storms every season. This is due to our close proximity to the Gulf Stream and the eratic weather patterns it can bring. This season was an exception though. We got a single snow storm all year. It rained more times than I can ever remember. Due to this warm weather and rain, the ground didn't freeze.

Due to terrible hill management and the nature of the customer base here (renters make up more than the majority of income for my local hill), we have bad terrain parks. The features are put in very late and are terribly maintained. For the first time, a couple of the local guys were given a lot of freedom to develop the terrain park. However, due to a lack of snow, only so much could be done. I wish I had some photos of the features my local hill, they're absolutely apalling.

This was the worst skiing season I've ever had in my life in terms of the local conditions. Luckily, I was able to travel to Quebec (Val D'irene), Ontario (Blue Mountain), and Alberta (Canada's Olympic Park & Sunshine) and I had a great time at all of these hills.

I think its fine to complain about a bad season, but remember, you could be skiing in Nova Scotia.

well those seasons may have been good, but that doesnt mean that the mad river valleys season never came. or the season that may have come was a rainy one. my house has the most snow its had all year as of yesterday, and that was about 2 inches

good rant, but the reason why this winter sucked is because, well here in quebec, it rained like 5 times during the winter...and the temperature changes from 10 above to 15 below in 2 days...

yo i live in ny, i love skiing here and i am super proud of it. but dont tell us we had a good snow year. some runs never opened we had mud between all the runs, never has snow. it was always icy man made shit. i went out west for my break and it was so sick, its always good out west. so no one from the west should be saying anything about the east. or all the terrian park gangstas from the east will stab you.

o and y dont all the people that big ski at big resort places come and ski on the east coast?(seven springs and hidden valley)

i read every single word and all i have to say is, amen brother. the east coast is by far not the worst place to ski. im sick of everyone's bitching! and we've definitely got some pretty gnar freeskiers out there reppin the east coast. it's all about what you make of it.

i appreciate the skiing this year, but at sugarbush the skiing wasnt that good. we had like 2 months with no new snow and the snow was gone at my house in vermont in early february, so this winter wasnt that good. There were a few good days, but it was really inconsistant and unreliable.

false info again. i ski ny and got multiple pow days in. 3 of which were waist deep.i havent seen mud on trails until last weekend.

well some places in the east got pounded but where i live got shit. to the east and west of me got descent lake effect storms but we only ended up with 25-30 inches of natural snow this year

i agree with you that just because you live in ny doesnt mean you cant ski powder, but it also has a lot to do with where in ny you are. central and western ny are a whole lot differnt than northern ny (i.e. whiteface and gore). ^as he said, western ny barely got anything this year which means that to ski good snow, its a good 6 hour drive one way

so before you talk about how location matters, dont speak for the rest of the east coast who isnt in maine/vt/canada. i live outside washignton dc and nearest hill is an hour and a half. My slope has about 25 runs and is a decent place sometimes. but when its about 60 degrees the entire month of january its kinda hard to get snow or say the east coast has had a good year. i know most places in lower east coast has had a shitty ass year and instead of your 300+ we have 30+ at the very most. so before you go off and talk about people bitching about east coast and how location matters dont talk about the whole east coast is decent when you only talk about ne and canda.

In ontario we had the warmest march break ever. like this dates back to before they started recording temperatures and shit. the winter sucked. there hasn't been more than an inch of snow that's stayed on the ground since about late january

i think east is dope because despite the shit weather and small mountains (except for the super expensive ones) the east turns out so many pro skiers who turn out to be the best. ie-corey vanular is from my mountain, holiday valley. less than 1000ft vertical

i would agree with that to a point. however my winter, for the most part did suck. we got 70 inches of snow the whole year. and the majority of that was never on the ground for more than a few days. but yes there were some places on the east coast that did have good winters. and i would love to ski at any of those places that you mentioned.

yeah not everyone can drive 8 hours to am ountain where the east coast is actually descent... we got 30 inches of snow this year where we normally get 140, so yes, the east sucks

i agree with philly blunts, the east for me (north carolina) had a decent season, we had a few real powder days despite our location and the season lasted for about 125 days, and i was skiing in a short sleeve shirt in 70 degee weather last weekend.

thats at aresort with 750' of vertical, their park consists of a small jump, a ride on flat box, sketchy rainbow box, a mail box and a cbox.

another view of the "crappy" nc resort that most of u wouldnt give a chance

i read all of that...and now im gonna piss this dude off agian probably. i live in tennessee. 2 slpes in TN. and they both always suck. even with massive amounts of snow, the terrain is still homo and the patrolers are super dicks if they see anyone out of bounds. NC is where is Ski at, and for the most part they all blow too. only a small handfull of the resorts have terrain features worth a shit, but again due to the lack of vertical you can only hit about 2 features in the park before you have to hop on the lift again because everyhting is crammed together. now i understand there is great skiing on the northern part of the east coast but i belive anyone in the south east is allowed to say at any given time that their season sucked. cause it usually does. i would love to go to vermont...but im broke so im just gonna sit here and complain about the year blowing and just wait till snow come again next year, cause this season is loooooong goone. thank you.

stratton peaked in early december. ps. jay peak and stowe are pretty close together from what i know, so i guess you can count them at the same place. i would love to get up there though.

Whatever. The snow, the terrain, and the weather suck massive dick out here compared to anyplace with real mountains. Terrain parks are the only thing that make the fact that I'm stuck out here for two more seasons tolerable, but just barely.

This is like listening to someone who grew up surfing in New Jersey trying to compare their shit to the North Shore. Please.

Yeah dude you based your entire argument on vermont, the 2nd smallest state on the east coast (maybe tied with NH, im really not sure) fact of the matter is, if 15 states on the east coast have skiing, then 14 of them sucked. i appreciate your rant, but in comparrison to past season, PA sucked huge dick. at roundtop, my home mtn, out superpipe never even opened. i dont think you can call it a decent year when 1 of your most important features doesnt even open. You have a point that sometimes people shit on the east coast too much, but to be honest your argument is based on specific events such as jay's 300+ inches. in maryland we had 16, yes, 16. all season. in other words, the east coast STILL SUCKS DACK in comparrison to out west.

okay im done, i decided to rant on your rant, my bad
