Why are climbing skins so expensive?

seriosly 130 for a pair of skins? what the hell are they made of? whats with the steep price?

climbing skins are technical pieces of equiptment. they are tiny nylon hairs, usually.

they will last for years if you take care of them, and they are less than the price of 2 lift tickets to most resorts. so i think they are relatively priced.

skins arent that badly priced, you can usually get them for less too.

Its too bad you dont live in Canada, MEC has been having sales on skins for like $78 cnd.

do you live anywhere near a farm? You could always make your own.

well i mean there are lots of farms but ill prolly just try and find a pair cheap.thanks guys i wasnt familiar with what they are at all just that they let you go forward but not slip down the hill haha

You'll be able to keep using the same set for at least 5-6 seasons if you take care of them and are out touring all the time, so it really isn't too bad of a deal to pay $130. Mine were $160, but that was only because they had to cover a 110mm waist.

just look around for sales, i usually pick up a bunch of pairs during like G3 50% off sales or something
