Why Andri Ragettli is so hated?

Hey guys, I just want make a thread of my favorite skier Andri Ragettli. Andri is killing every comp of FIS freeskiing. His style is maybe the worlds best ones. Andri´s every trick is so well performed and perfect. I just cant handle the hate which is being conflicted to Andri, you all jealous skiers who do not got talent enough could shut the fuck up. I think every skier should look up Andri and respect him as a skier. He is bringing so much new energy at this sport. And all this gay-talk about Andri. Who cares if you like guys or girls, just follow your on path and do not care about anything! Positive energy rules!

He is very skilled and came up through the comp scene without many urban or film parts so people are going to call him a comp jock and hate. He also wears the "wrong" clothes and sometimes does pretty stock tricks for his ability.

You've been a member for 4 years, with only 8 posts and this is one of them? Is that you Andri? You're telling people that positive energy rules then to shut the fuck up....... You are confusing.

Lol bro. Don't get me wrong, Andri is an extremely talented slope style skier... maybe one of the best in the world.

But fuck all of that. Fuck FIS and spending your entire career training a comp run. Does this kid ski anything but park jumps?

I read this and then think about Henrik and Phil and laugh at the silly joke you just told. I could probably list out 50 skiers that Andri will never hold a candle too when it comes to style, influence, energy, progression, etc.

Go to bed Andri, you're drunk.

because he does k feds in slope runs and wins only because he can do a triple with robot style. Plus quads suck and only belong in aerial skiing.

Simple answer: unoriginal jock style.

But he does send fucking deep and will triple anything.

Thats my problem, like dude rode 12 that 60 footer, or dub 16, just not a hucked cork 7 to dub back.

But basically the same shit for Goepper besides the rocks, just a stock ass, perfection type style, which to me still isnt bad to watch. Hes definitely one of the top at the moment for comps, and kinda brings a less douchey side to comps in terms of personality, but theres a lot of others ill watch over him and he kinda seems energetic in a cocky way.

Also since OPs probably Andri, just do us a favor and dont triple everything, and get a tall t hoodie.

Andri actually has done some jaw dropping stuff. In his one film part for one of the Legs of Steel movies, forgot the name, he did some sort of butter to screaming seamen thing (it was like a switch cork five where at switch one he tail pressed the knuckle and then genied over the knuckle) that was one of the most insane shots from one of the most insane park shoots that year (whatever year that was lol). He also has that forward genie dub that I really haven't seen many do in general.

I think the main issue is that he really doesn't incorporate that stuff in his run. He seems to not do grab switches, creative rail lines, butters, creative axes, interesting grabs in general, or any of the stuff that some others in the field do to differentiate their runs. He just usually brings the trip 14 on any course no matter how small the jumps. If he medals at X Games, it will probably be due to lacing back to back trip 14s slightly better than he did at the last X Games. Also, since he doesn't really film that much anymore we really don't see the shit he could do on an open jump during a park shoot, just more stuff that he pieces together to get the points

Who can blame him though, because it works a lot of the time and the feeling of standing on top of podium with that level of talent must feel absolutely incredible. I just really appreciate when a skier who is in any contention to win introduces any variety or spice into their runs. That way I don't feel like a slope final is just a blur of highlighter yellow Volkl and Head skis being flung around a few features and jumps.

He won with the weakest rail line out (natural sw 2 continuing 2 into natural k fed)

compared to the other podiums

oysteinbraten 3rd (right 4 pretzel 2) -https://www.instagram.com/p/Bd8PZAcA7PX/?hl=en&taken-by=oysteinbraten

ferdinandahl 2nd (front 3 to sw) -https://www.instagram.com/p/Bd_fjOonHt6/?hl=en&taken-by=ferdinandahl

With all that I just said considered, that switch dub misty 12 with the truck off the carved take off is pretty ridiculous

Tbf, Andri is doing world first tricks and winning gold medals across the sport, skiing every day and loving life... I reckon he doesn't give a fuck what you think, or any NS member for that matter, he's probably never even heard of the site.

The guy is a jock..100% but the kid has amazing skills... hes a fucking ninja.. he's swiss.. and he doesn't need to throw Rocks at cars!

He's definetly one of those bright kids who can kinda just toss anything and have lots of energy but he's the epitome of a comp skier, aside a dub misty he just #corks.

Watching him attempt to have afterbang after landing a trick, or making any of his big jump tricks look stylish for that matter, makes me watch to rip my eyes out of my skull.

Same shit as Goepper... landing quads (in few years probably quints) but no style whatsoever. Exactly whats wrong with todays freeskiing

His rail landings on that run are probably the worst thing ever. Nothing looks more forced than trying to look relaxed like Magnus.

Yup, watching him attempt to "flow" through the rail section made me cringe. Couldn't even make a kfed look good

If dominatorjacques hit rails

Never thought swinging your arms could look so forced and ridiculous until this moment

So glad someone brought this up.. With a rail run like that you should instantly have no chance at landing on the podium.. He's risking nothing and just getting by so he can go chuck on the jumps, whereas ferdinan and oystein are doing some fucked shit, that is way way harder to do consistantly than a triple 14 safety grab..

This is where slopestyle judging is lacking right now.

You fall off a rail a foot before the end -> you get a score of 70 something even if everything else on that run was good shit.

Cruise through the rails with k-feds and 2-on-2-offs -> no effect on score.

Above the average tech or originality on rails -> minor bonus or no effect on score.

How does that kind of judging encourage anyone to take any risks with rails? Of course those examples are exaggerated, but currently comps have zero margin for error and that leads to playing it too safe especially on rails.

this isn't true. bobby brown did easy 2-on-2-offs and 2on today and his score got crushed. but his jumps were top 4-5 on the day.

if you remember when tom wallisch won Aspen X Games slope..... he won on the last run when he upped 270 to 450 off that wall ride.... the judges do factor in rail risk.

That was six years ago...

Now that you bring up judges, it makes me wonder who they are. Are they skiers who are good at park or just people who know the tricks?

Jason Arens is a judge and he slays park

Steele Spence, Jason Arens and Lao Chazelas have park backgrounds. Arnaud Cottet and Ole Strom are mostly big mountain skiers I think. I have no idea who Urh Bulc is. But AFP does have a judging certification process for AFP events.

Let's put it this way.

You do the easiest possible rain run and have no mistakes on jumps + one triple -> you have a chance for +90 points if that triple wasn't the ugliest piece of shit.

But if you reverse that and in jumps you do the classic stock run (left dub12 mute, sw right dub10 japan, sw left dub10 japan). And for one rail you nail a high risk banger like 6on-pretz2 there is no way you would ever get a score of 90.

But back to the topic. Ragettli's spaghetti arms at Mammoth World Cup went straight to the most cringeworthy footage of 2018.

The jump built in that redbull movie will get us there. We just have to convince someone to first straight air it multiple times without dying
